NoVaWx
I'm gonna stoop to a new level of weenie right now out of desperation for snow. Anyone know what the wusa9 future cast is based on right here - http://www.wusa9.com/weather/forecast/regional_forecast.aspx I look at it from time to time before storms, and it seems to be accurate quite a bit. I'm sure it's based on some model already out there... Right now I took a look at it, and it has mostly snow west of IAD. Imagine it coming true... WEATHER53
Accumulating snow now being predicted for central-northern parts of the Eastern Shore and Delaware. If they get it but we don't then it would Not be a temp. issue but rather the location of the precip. mass.
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Wow this is going to be a kick-ass storm for the Boston area. It would be really fun to be in a blizzard watch but our climo just doesn't get us these storms often. No reason to be bitter about it, I'll try and just enjoy the fun vicariously through them. stormtracker
This will probably be on of the most painful storms in a while for us. I'm genuinely happy for those guys up north, but I wish it were us. Most of us should probably sign off Thursday night and not come back until Monday. I'll be eating up this coverage. Really quite a shame I moved down here while my parents will be cashing in 12-18 inches in the Lower Hudson Valley. WinterWxLuvr
Not exactly sure why so many obsess over NE. Boston is as far north of DC as DC is of Charlotte. They are going to get more snow than we do. It's silly to think otherwise.

Subtropics
If we don't get hit at all this winter and SNE gets buried with 30 inches and gusts over 50 this winter will without a doubt be worse than last year.

snowfan
Not sure how much is frozen, if any at all, but I see the eastern shore at or above 1" QPF.
Ji
18z gfs is trying to give us QPF. Have you guys seen the RPM model>?
Subtropics
Trend is our friend. The low NW is killer though. Give me precip and I will worry about the cold later. Plenty of time for NW low to be mismodeled. High stronger than modeled, etc.

Bob Chill
Last 4 runs of gfs (oldest to newest) Not really a trend. I suppose you can say 12-18z is a wetter trend (or expands the shield further west) but I think 18z is a simple tease before more reality hits later. WinterWxLuvr
pretty sure this happened with boxing day 1 Maybe this time it goes the other way. No, I'm not delusional, but this is a place for conversation. Seems that lately these northern systems have been modeled too strong. Maybe it simply dissipates. Yeah, I know. It's still not impossible to get some frozen but we're out of time for the miracle shift. Maybe we get something upfront that's washed down the gutter shortly after. But that would still be a win in my book.
