Early Spring Banter Thread

As a lot of us have said, even assuming that the Euro has the correct idea with the pattern from Wednesday and on, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday look like great days for most of the area. Yesterday's 12z Euro was IMO overdone with making Tuesday a cold day.

The shores will have their seabreeze concerns, though. Monday might have early highs for some, but be much colder at 4-5 p.m. than the 2 p.m. temperatures.

The euro still might be overdoing that PV feature. Im not seeing much support for that but there is still a big block that we have to get rid of..It could become a problem if the euro is right

Tonight is going to be chilly with the brief burst of -10C 850s moving south. NWS has a low temperature of 31F with blustery conditions in Dobbs Ferry, though the strong NW winds haven't yet kicked in so it's still a beautiful spring afternoon at 54.5/24, though certainly colder than earlier today when the high reached 63.3F. Sharp contrast between a warm day and cold night, reminds me of living in Montana and Nevada during Summer 2010 when it would be 80F at midday and 40F by dawn. The funny part is they don't need cold fronts for those diurnal ranges as we do.

I've already have three freezes between April 2-4 with lows of 29.3F, 29.7F, and 29.4F. Very impressive to have three nights in a row in the 20s in April, though that's probably the last time we'll reach the 20s until mid-fall. Sad to say that, but it's true. There is a possibility for a cold night Wednesday or Thursday if the 12z ECM is right about the snow potential, but it probably won't get that cold. Winter has loosened its grip.

3 freezes here in CNJ too so far this month, and tonight looks to do it. 28.1, 29.3, and 31.1.

Still believe next week is transitional - warm early, backdoor w/ maritime air from late Tuesday through potentially Friday, and then April 15th+ could feature very warm regime developing given the collapse of the high latitude blocking. Strong consensus for +AO initiation in about 5-7 days

this looks like it's one of those years where we go from heat one day to AC the next!! Guess I should get ready to put them in the window....

I don't think it's going to be that hot...Tuesday looks like the warmest day at 70/50 but that's not steamy enough to need AC. By Thursday we might have highs in the 40s if the 12z Euro handles the backdoor front better than the gfs.

At least someone was able to cash in on the record blocking for this time of year.

This was the first time according to the latest CPC data that we saw a -3 or lower

monthly AO outside of DJF.

We got to 56 but it never felt like it, wind killed any chances of it being a top day.

Yeah I felt it here too. I'm pretty sure I was around 60 this afternoon. It felt warm in the sun but the wind was pretty persistent. I took today as a nice precursor of things to come. Excited for the next few days...should be awesome.
