tim
The all-time April record low temp at KFOK is 16°F set on 4/3/2008. KHTO, which is basically East Hampton and has a much longer period of record, its all time coldest April temp was 14°F set on 4/7/1982. The daily record for tomorrow at KFOK is 23°F in 2001. The daily record low at KHTO for tomorrow is 17°F set in 1954. Don't think we'll get that cold. Too windy still. ..they are at 23*(that a was @ 553am) 24* out my window here in eastport. Allsnow
Forecast low is 33 and winds are still going to be 10-15 mph over night. I'm saying they won't do it Nice call. They did not end up going below. Looks like the airports will not see 32 again until fall
Dsnowx53
Nice call. They did not end up going below. Looks like the airports will not see 32 again until fall JFK ended up hitting a low of 32, though Central Park remained at 33.

bluewave
That's two record lows tied in this cold snap. It's easier for a station like LGA with a shorter period of record to tie or set a record low these days than Central Park.

bluewave
Yep, the winds died down overnight, which is not ideal for getting your lowest temps in the Park. I think that the Park probably would have dropped below freezing if there was more of a NW to N flow.

bluewave
Yea it went westerly and died down to < 5mph for the most part. What's interesting is that the Euro, NAM, and GFS 2m t's all had NYC getting to freezing or lower the last few mornings. But the temps staying up yesterday was a sign that they would be too low this morning also.

And as you mentioned most record lows this time of year are still in the 20s so 34 is really high
Stormlover74
Yep, the winds died down overnight, which is not ideal for getting your lowest temps in the Park. Most of the temperature drop was between 7 and midnight when the winds were still high. The dropping slowed after midnight only falling 3 degrees between 12 and 7. When they were 36 at midnight I thought they might get down to 30 or 31 but they stalled at 33-

SnoSki14
Spring has arrived, you can feel it in the air. Finally. It'll be even nicer in the coming days and especially next week. It's still chilly once the sun goes down and in the mornings. Enjoy it while it lasts, I'm guessing in two months or less it'll go from pleasant to very uncomfortable with upper 80s, 90s and high humidity all the way into mid September or longer. earthlight
Clear blue skies now in Ramsey and full sunshine. We just cleared out about a half hour ago. Not one drop of rain or snowflake. The NAM performed best once inside 48 with the eventual timing & track of this system. GFS as of yesterday was farther northwest and slower. The NW winds, clearing skies and relatively warm 850temps ahead of the front today should set up a warm one. EWR should hit 60.
