You jinxed it. I was tanning until it turned mostly cloudy. This day backfired. Better luck tomorrow.

I check Wunderground, when the skies are clear Wunderground says the UV index is as high as 8! I believe it because I tanned pretty quick yesterday.

its a good sign we are breaking out of the blocking pattern..Mid month looks like a true torch possible

I think April starts off below normal with at least one freezing night at Central Park. We should get -10 departures Tuesday and Wednesday with the Canadian high lowering 850s to around -12C, coldest we've seen in April since 2007. Suburbs that radiate well could fall into the 20s.

This was one of the most persistent cross polar flows into our area  from January 21st into

the first week of April that we have seen in a while. The lowest daily temperatures weren't

that cold by historical standards, but colder daily high temperatures especially for March

stood out more.

The pattern was impressive for cross polar flow but the same kind of temprature regime we saw since 2006 prevailed with northern Asia having the coldest anomalies. The mean polar vortex has been on the Eurasrian side making it difficult to see even modest cold events that used to be expected like Central Park falling below 0F.
