SnoSki14
Tonight's long range has a se ridge with the block so its warm with a few cutters. Not like it matters anyway, next run will probably be completely different.

Saturn510
When Jerusalem gets there 1 snow storm every few years do they say the "snow isnt going to stick". It seems to not have trouble sticking when it snows there. Bottom line.. If it snows hard enough it will accumulate.

pazzo83
March snowstorms can be nice, you get blasted and then it's 50-60F a few days later. I remember back in March 1994 we got about 24-28" of snow (this was back in VA), and two days later it was in the mid 60s. Yes please.

A look at the local rivers show that the area is running some 1-2' above normal currently.

earthlight
Can we add some entertainment in between the 18z gfs and 0z models? That period sucks. I have scheduled NZucker to give a tube sock demonstration and lecture between 5 and 6pm. Immediately following that we have abc1234 giving a detailed thesis on the Euro Control model between 6 and 7pm. Finally, between 7 and 8pm ace20148 will give a speech entitled "The New Me", explaining why and how he has suddenly become a valuable poster in our forum. That should lead us right up to 8-830 when the SREFs will come in 150 miles south and east of the last run.

stockmanjr
I have a new forecast tool that think is perfect for any season. The Howie has an important thing that day model. Every time I'm supposed to do something important/travel somewhere cool and we have a threat it verifies. Examples of this include Boxing Day when I was supposed to travel to Central America. Sandy when I was supposed to go away with the GF. Feb 6th/7th storm when my Birthday Party was that night. Now possibly the March 6th threat when I have my PA School interview! Cheers Howie

nzucker
Fellow NYCDOE employee Zucker, potentially a school closer Thursday LOL ? Is it my PC or signed on member names are missing from the botto, of the screen? Lol how do you know I'm a teacher? From my comments 2/8? Gotta love the DOE never canceling school and then I have to drive back to westchester in a raging blizzard. It's looking good for NYC. I think the trends are strongly north and favorable. School closings could be possible with power outages from the heavy wet snow and winds.
sferic
Not with Bloomberg. He always underplays any weather event, and the baby sitting service that is NYCDOE. Yes, Bloomberg always says "the storm is forecast not to be bad and business will go on"...always!!
sferic
I wouldn't call it a babysitting service as we have some great dynamic teachers in my school but that's an argument for another day. I just want to see snow close the school in time for our QR (quality Review)

I didn't mean it that way, I'm referring to how they very rarely close schools due to weather even though there have been many significant snowstorms in which they were kept open. In no way was I knocking the actual education.

SnoSki14
Long range on the GFS looks good We get a little warmup after the storm and then it gets colder mid month and going forward. I don't see us getting higher than mid 50s during the warmup right now and then probably low to mid 40s and perhaps 20s to low 30s for lows. RUNNAWAYICEBERG
I wouldn't be so sure that any models are meeting in the middle. They pretty much reversed, not really trended towards one another. I still think we get 3-6"....not a foot with a blizzard or anything, but not an inch either lol. you always show up during potential events from 7days onward and give out your predictions like you have an audience, like your a MET. but you always fail to provide any kind of reasoning. you been sticking with your 3-6 idea for days now, you must see something that much more knowledgeable people do not. It's just my thinking based on looking at model runs....nothing less, nothing more. I've also learned to value the European model much moreso. NAM is always pretty extreme one way or the other, euro consistent....and in this case the GFS has been pretty consistent the last several runs with showing a significant storm. I'm simply expecting 3-6". I've also yet to see you provide any information even remotely valuable, either. You seem to attack people in a way like you saw them flirting with a love interest of yours and were bothered and felt you'd be a better match for them but didn't want to come right out and start an argument because itd be too "dramatic" looking.... Leading to a more passive aggressive style of venting. Please stop it.

If I haven't, then oh well.....attack someone else if you feel that is necessary. And I follow the board year round yet post more during snowstorms as many people do because I love winter.
