jonjon
Over 7" from the storm so far. We've cracked 100" for the season. Thank you Sandy!
Dr No
It has been snowing light to moderately the last hour with big fluffy dendrites. I'm currently at 1" total for the event, with around .4 or so falling in the last hour.
mappy
lol @ WaterBoyimage.jpg Don't worry about the two lovers, they love to harass and annoy people and they think they are always right. My comment to fozz wasn't to say I didn't believe him. So this comment is really uncalled for
EastCoast NPZ
appears to be about over here now. measured 1/2". flakes were more like feathers, and fell just as WinterWx described...sloowwww. sweeping the snow was literally like sweeping down-feathers the way it would congeal in cotton-ball like puffs. It appears to sit on top of the grass rather than filling in between the blades, so while it is 1/2" (measured on hard surface) it appears deeper than that on the ground. Dr No
The February sun angle isn't helping too much. Even though it's snowing at a fairly steady pace, it's starting to melt of the roofs, roads, and concrete surfaces with a 28 degree temp.
WVclimo
Getting some big flakes now. If today is going to produce any accumulation here, it will have to be from this shower.

snownut
Dusting yesterday but overnight and early morning had the lightest fluffy 1.2 inches you can imagine. Still snowing lightly and very beautiful outside, took a nice hike with my little one a while ago.
Fozz
This is just sad - observation threads about flurries. This is what our mid-atlantic winter has come to. The most exciting event all winter was the 70 degree days and flooding rains last week. Shouldn't we put a fork in this thing? If you're going to cancel winter, do it elsewhere, maybe in one of Ji's threads. Some of us got more than just flurries, and in any case, an obs thread is just that.....we post observations of whatever weather we see, whether it's flurries, SN++, or anything in between, even in a normal or even snowy winter. Couldn't agree more. These type of posts are brutal to read. It has been a very wintry period for us. I've already had well over double the events from last winter. Events like last night are quite enjoyable if you can see the daylight if you don't have your head too far up your ass b*tching about the lack of a KU. It's definitely frustrating, but we still have time -- remember how bad '09 looked until we finally pulled out a surprise on March 1 (except the areas further west). Also, most winters that have no 4" or better storms tend to be much warmer, like 0 days of 32 or below max. We are getting pretty good cold shots, so one of these times things will come together. DCA has only had one winter with no highs below freezing and it was 33 so I doubt most places have had a winter without a subfreezing high. Stormpc
Back into the lgt/mod stuff, but no sticking anymore. In fact, a good portion of what fell between 8-9 am has melted so it looks like just mood snow on and off the remainder of the day. DC looks to get in on this latest batch. Enjoy a great winter Super Bowl day!!
WVclimo
Today should be my 8th subfreezing high in the past 13 days, with 6 of those days having snow falling. Last year I had 5 below 32 maxes. 2010-11, I finished the season with 27 days. '09-'10 had 19.
EastCoast NPZ
Sun is now peaking through the clouds and melting has begun. Last batch of heavier snow took me to about 1-inch today. Nice surprise. A couple of attempts at flake photography. I think these are dendrites? Almost no pics turned out decent, but the flakes were pretty to look at. Dr No
Very nice band of moderate snow overhead now w/ visb around .75 to 1 mile. It's starting to cover up the concrete again that had melted a little earlier.

Enjoy a great winter Super Bowl day!! Yes, "mood snow" is the perfect term -- family and I made the similar comments walking out of church. Can't remember ever living around here, with light, non-wind-driven snow falling for a couple hours but not really sticking. Pretty, but...inconsequential. I'll take what I can get at this point.
