Ridiculous numbers aside, it could definitely be interpreted as a signal for an anomalous weather event for New England.  Could this be a redux of the E/E (ETA/Euro) rule?

EDIT:  Yes, there is a potential for a major snowstorm, so the prudent course of action would be to say something to the order of, "significant snowfall well in excess of a foot has been advertised by some guidance, but we don't want to give exact numbers just yet.  For now begin making preparations for your home and business."

Looking at the text output through Friday 7 pm we have about .23, you have .39 but the surface is above freezing some of it before a crash at the end.
