You guys need to keep in mind for a lot of those NE guys 1' snow is somewhat routine. So when they were looking at an epic 2.5-3' monster and then get a "once every three or so year storm" it stings for sure. It'd be like us LSV guys going from 1' to 4-6".

While it does have some excellent mets and good folks, that subforum also has some adult-sized five year olds. That's a factor.

That's cool. I think after reading that they may have something similar to the blizzard of 1888 but maybe not on that scale - I mean a storm that starts off with rain and meh and turns into a beast.

Through 36, the NAM looks okay for advisory snow here. And the NAM is going all HULK SMASH on NYC right now at hour 39.

HM said NYC and N NJ could see a major, major storm. When he barks like that, something's going on.

I'm not a good NAM reader; do you have access to how it looks for our region back this way?

Also radar's blowing up nicely in the SE and Gulf now.

Amen. HM's like a shrewd junkyard dog that way.

Widespread QPF .25"+ with the .50" line closing in on IPT it appears.

I think at this point, this is the best we can hope for.

Looks colder too. Not sure tho.

On the NAM, it appears that you get like .3 of snow Friday night with seemingly good rates. Based on text output on AccuWx pro.

If the NAM snow map is even remotely correct, warning critera a possibility in Schuylkill County.

From what I am looking at based on NAM it is rain to snow for philly/NJ... boundary layer issues early with a strong jet streak on the north east edge of the coastal low pulling in some warmer air initially until it begins to rapidly strengthen and gain latitude.  However, the NAM often struggles with temperature profile with cold air damming scenario prior to a storm system's arrival... sometimes it is accurate and sometimes it pushes out the cold air too quickly... afternoon temperatures will be worth watching tomorrow to see if they do indeed climb as the models are currently projecting... if the cold air wins we may remain nearly all frozen.  What I fear is if we do have any rain initially late tomorrow afternoon that the ground is still frozen and we could have ice issues before a changeover to all snow...

QPF 12z NAM:

MDT - .39"

IPT - .62"

UNV - .41"

PHL - 1.74"

ACY - 3.05"

LNS - .56"

THV - .31"

AOO - .26"

FIG - .40"

NYC - 3.01"

BOS - 2.56" (not complete yet)

Someone brought his funny today. ;) How you feeling, man? I read you're suffering from stones this morning. :/

Must be the morphine I got from the ER doc last night... :P

Better than I was last night. The stone lodged in a different location from my normal episodes, so I initially thought I was having an appendicitis attack. Wost stone pain (and I've had quite a few) that I've ever experienced.
