Radar showing snow returns over Hickory, but the air is so dry it's sublimating on the way down.  Current temp is 39.2 F over a dew point of 14 F.

You've got a dew point of 30 degrees, though, which is good! :)

BL temps don't appear to be much of a problem as it seemed they might.  Here, we topped out at 39 degrees after a forecasted high in the mid-40s.

Having to tempt my excitement looking at Huntsville radar. Nice west to east oriented band moving pretty much due east and strengthening in intensity. Someone in north GA mtns will get 6" if that holds together as it slides across north GA.

The movement of the line and the way its oriented from west to east creates a nice training effect which is what you want for maximum QPF.

3/4" so far imby with a temp of 33.5. Waiting for round #2.

it will be a close call if the northern atlana burbs see some white stuff with this batch moving in from alabama...what do the soundings look like?

If the precip. were heavy and longlasting enough, there would be at least snow mixed in with the 850 mb temp. at or slightly below 0C. Good evidence is the snow mixing in with rain near Marietta.

Nice to see everyone getting some snow. It is snowing here but the way the band are moving through we are not the most favorable spot to see high totals. Maybe tonight we will see more but congrats on the snow everyone!

Not everyone. Still no snow in my part of the upstate and the sky looks to be clearing.

Congrats to all the peeps to the south getting the white stuff! Hope is still alive for us in the Mnts who are not getting snow. Here is GSP's short term:

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...AS OF EARLY SAT AFTN...CYCLONIC UPPER FLOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THENEAR TERM PERIOD...WITH A COUPLE OF SHORTWAVES ROUNDING THE BASE OFTHE TROUGH. SOUTHWEST FLOW OVER THE REGION WILL AID MOISTUREADVECTION ALOFT AS THE FIRST OF THESE WAVES ROLLS THROUGH LATE THISAFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING. THE FLOW DIRECTION IS INITIALLYFAVORABLE FOR UPSLOPE ENHANCEMENT THROUGHOUT THE CWFA BUT ESPECIALLYIN THE MOUNTAINS. HAVE MAINTAINED HIGH LIKELY TO LOW CATEGORICAL POPSTHERE WITH THE FIRST WAVE...WITH SCHC TO CHC POPS FOR THE PIEDMONT.SFC DEWPOINTS REMAIN VERY DRY...IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND LOWERTEENS...WITH TEMPERATURES LARGELY IN THE 40S OUTSIDE THE MOUNTAINS.THESE AREAS WILL SEE MUCH OF THE PRECIP EVAPORATE INITIALLY WHICHWILL LEAD TO COOLING TEMPERATURES APPROACHING THE WET BULB TEMPS.SNOW OR A RAIN/SNOW MIX COULD THUS RESULT OVER THE PIEDMONT...THOUGHTHE FORCING IS NOT ALL THAT STRONG AND MOISTURE STILL SOMEWHATLACKING. QPF VALUES ARE QUITE SMALL OUTSIDE THE MOUNTAINS SOSIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATION IS NOT EXPECTED THERE.THE INITIAL WAVE WILL HAVE PUSHED EAST OF THE CWFA BY 06Z...BUTANOTHER WILL BE APPROACHING FROM THE TN VALLEY AT THAT TIME. WINDSVEER THIS EVENING SO THE DYNAMIC FORCING THE MTNS RECEIVE FROM THATWAVE LATE TONIGHT WILL COUPLE WITH UPSLOPE FLOW TO PRODUCE A SECONDPEAK IN PRECIP COVERAGE IN THE PRE-DAWN HOURS...WITH MODELS STILLPRODUCING UPSLOPE SNOW INTO THE DAY. QPF REMAINS LIGHT WITH ONLYSHALLOW MOISTURE REMAINING AT THAT TIME. THE PIEDMONT LOOKS TO ONLYRECEIVE CIRRUS WITH THE SECOND WAVE...LACKING SUFFICIENT LLVLMOISTURE. WINDS COULD BE GUSTY AGAIN SUNDAY WITH DEEP MIXING ANDSTRONG WINDS ALOFT DUE TO THE TIGHT UPPER HEIGHT GRADIENT.SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE SRN MOUNTAINS WERE RAISED ENOUGH TO WARRANTINCLUDING SRN JACKSON...RABUN AND HABERSHAM COUNTIES IN THE WINTER WXADVY. THE ADVY WORTHY TOTALS WILL MOSTLY BE FOCUSED IN HIGHERELEVATIONS.
