That's a pretty impressive snow total for this season, SnoJoe!  57.5 inches already with much more to come in the next few days.  I think you've got a good chance to make a run at 70 inches before the season is done...and that would be 7000% of the snow that I've gotten this winter.  You do have many advantages to the rest of us, though:  4000+ feet in elevation and lots of orographic lift capabilities, for starters.  Nice!

We are here man lurking in the Buncombe co. snow shadows.  That sounds awesome but I can't get too excited down here in the valley.  2200' is whole different world but maybe we can squeak out an inch or two!  I am just happy to see snow in March.  Good luck to everyone!

Another mtn peep here getting ready for the winter storm! Seasoned locust stacked and ready to burn, milk and bread run made, generator gased up, and hatches battened down.....

Lol batten down the hatches is right. Come Sunday morning things are going to be full force I believe. The models are still trendind in our favor and I do believe GSP may have to increase there totals and may have to increase the Warning into at least Wed morning. This is going to be awsome for this time of the year!

LATE THIS AFTN BETWEEN LOW PRES OVER WRN KY AND COASTAL LOW PRESSURE

OFF THE CAROLINAS. THIS IS KEEPING LIGHT UPGLIDE DRIZZLE

GOING...ESPECIALLY OVER THE FAR NRN TIER. SOME COOLING OF THE

PROFILES IS EXPECTED TO WORK SWD ALONG THE BLUE RIDGE THROUGH THE

EARLY EVENING HOURS...WITH MORE OF A TRANSITION TO MIXED PTYPES

THERE. MEANWHILE...THE H5 LOW PRES SYSTEM OVER THE LOWER OH VALLEY

LATE TODAY WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS THE VIRGINIAS THROUGH MON. UPPER

DIVERGENCE AND SHEARED VORTICITY WILL CROSS MAINLY THE NC PART OF

THE FORECAST AREA TONIGHT...AS THE SFC OCCLUDED FRONT MOVES THROUGH

AS WELL TO BEGIN SCOURING THE WEDGE. WILL TRANSITION EVENING POPS

BACK TOWARD THE WRN MTNS. IN ADDITION...SFC BASED CAPE VALUES SHOULD

REACH A FEW HUNDRED J/KG IN THE SW NC MTNS...WARRANTING AN ISOLD TO

SCT TSTM MENTION THERE. THE REST OF THE MTNS...AND AREAS IN THE CAD

EAST OF THE MTNS...SHOULD REMAIN TOO STABLE FOR ANY TSTM MENTION

WITH SHOWERS ALONG THE FROPA. THERE MAY BE JUST ENOUGH OVERLAP OF

SFC BASED INSTABILITY AND SFC TO 3 KM SHEAR FOR SOME BRIEF

ORGANIZATION JUST W OF THE MTNS...WITH PERHAPS SOME GUSTY WINDS

REACHING THE SMOKIES AREA WITH ANY SHOWERS/TSTMS THIS EVENING. WILL

ALSO NEED TO POST A FREEZE WARNING FOR MUCH OF THE NC FOOTHILLS AND

PIEDMONT AFTER FROPA TONIGHT.

MORE RAPID COOLING OF PROFILES WILL OCCUR LATE TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY

MONDAY. THERE WILL BE SOME DEGREE OF WESTERLY UPSLOPE MOISTURE INTO

MONDAY MORNING...BUT DEEPER LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL SURGE INTO THE

SRN APPALACHIANS THROUGH THE DAY MONDAY ALONG WITH IMPROVING UPSLOPE

FLOW AS WINDS TURN MORE WNW WITH TIME. SNOW SHOWER CHANCES WILL

STEADILY INCREASE ALONG THE SPINE...AS WELL AS ACCUMULATIONS IN THE

IMPROVING LAPSE RATES. DEEPER MIXING ALONG WITH THE STOUT WESTERLY

FLOW IN THE TIGHT GRADIENT BEHIND THE DEPARTING LOW PRES SYSTEM WILL

REQUIRE WIND ADVISORIES AS WELL FOR MONDAY FOR ALL BUT THE NE PART.

WILL START THE NRN MTN WINTER STORM WARNING THIS EVENING IN ORDER TO

CAPTURE MIXED PTYPE LIGHT ICING THERE BEFORE THE TRANSITION TO SNOW.

A SPLIT ELEVATION WARNING/ADVISORY WILL BE POSTED STARTING AT 06Z

FOR THE SW MTNS.

&&

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

AS OF 310 PM SUNDAY...MONDAY EVENING...SFC CYCLONE WILL TRACK NE OFF

THE NEW ENGLAND SHORE AS A MID LEVEL TROF RIPPLES ACROSS THE OHIO

RIVER VALLEY. SHORT RANGE MODELS INDICATE THAT THE TROF AXIS WILL

APPROACH THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION DURING THE NIGHT...MOVING

OVER THE REGION BY 12Z TUESDAY. FORECAST SOUNDINGS AHEAD OF THE TROF

INDICATE THAT LLVL FLOW WILL VEER NW AND THE DEPTH OF SATURATED

CONDITIONS WILL DEEPEN...REACHING H4 DURING TUESDAY MORNING. THE

CLOUD LAYER IS EXPECTED TO FALL WELL WITHIN THE OPTIMAL SNOW GROWTH

TEMPERATURE RANGE OF -12 TO -18C. HOWEVER...AS THE SFC LOW DEPARTS

NORTHEAST...H85 WINDS WILL DECREASE FROM 40 TO 45 KTS AT 0Z TUES TO

25 TO 30 KTS AT 12Z TUES. GIVEN THE PASSING WAVE AND VORT

MAX...ABUNDANT MOISTURE...AND ORTHOGONAL FLOW SHOULD SUPPORT

WIDESPREAD ACCUMULATING SHSN ACROSS THE WESTERN UPSLOPE AREAS OF THE

NC MTNS THROUGH MID DAY TUES. STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL IS FORECAST TO

RANGE FROM 5 TO 7 INCHES ACROSS THE NRN MTNS...WITH 8 TO 9 INCHES

ALONG THE TN LINE. AREAS FROM MADISON TO GRAHAM COULD SEE 4 TO 6

INCHES IN THE VALLEYS WITH 7 TO 9 INCHES ACROSS THE RIDGES...WITH A

FOOT OF SN POSSIBLE ALONG THE SWAIN/NC LINE. TUESDAY

AFTERNOON...MOISTURE ACROSS THE MTNS WILL BEGIN TO DRY FROM THE TOP

DOWN AND LLVL FLOW WILL BEGIN TO BACK AND WEAKEN. ACCUMULATING SNOW

MAY REMAIN ALONG THE TN BORDER THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING...THEN END

AFTER MIDNIGHT.

MODEL GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT H85 TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN WELL

BELOW 0C ACROSS THE CWA...WITH MOST AREAS BELOW -5C. ALTHOUGH CLOUD

COVER WILL REMAIN THICK ACROSS THE REGION...LLVL THICKNESSES AND

PROFILES SUPPORT FREEZING TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REGION. BASED ON A

BLEND OF ECMWF AND MET TEMPERATURE GUIDANCE...MIN TEMPERATURES

SHOULD FAVOR THE U20S TO NEAR 30 ACROSS THE NC FOOTHILLS AND

PIEDMONT...WITH L30S ACROSS THE UPSTATE AND NE GA. WE WILL HIGHLIGHT

THE TEMPERATURES WITH A FREEZE WATCH. TUES HIGHS MAY RANGE FROM NEAR

40 ACROSS THE MTNS VALLEYS TO L50S EAST OF THE MTNS.

TUESDAY NIGHT...SHSN AND CLOUDS WILL REMAIN ALONG THE TN LINE FOR

MUCH OF THE NIGHT. EAST...SKY MAY SLOW CLEAR AND COOL LLVL

THICKNESSES WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE CWA WITH NW FLOW. MIN

TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY NIGHT ARE FORECAST TO COOL A

COUPLE OF DEGREES FROM MON NIGHT VALUES. ON WEDNESDAY...PRECIP

SHOULD END AND SKY COVER MAY SLOW DECREASE. LLVL TEMPERATURE

PROFILES AND THICKNESSES SHOULD REMAIN SIMILAR TO TUESDAY.

HOWEVER...INCREASED INSOLATION MAY PROVIDE A 3 TO 4 DEGREE WARM UP

FROM TUESDAY HIGH TEMPERATURE VALUES.
