Have an inch here in town. Has been snowing non stop all night. Some interesting discussion from GSP about this next week.

THICKNESSES SHOULD CRASH WED MORNING AS THE COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
TRANSITIONS TOWARD THE COAST. QG FORCING SHOULD BE PLENTIFUL JUST
AHEAD OF THE LOW TUE NIGHT AND WED MORNING...WITH SOME DEGREE OF
FRONTOGENESIS AND DEFORMATION ZONE FORCING TRAILING THE DEPARTING
LOW THROUGH THE PIEDMONT WED AFTN/EVENING. VERY STEEP LAPSE RATES
UNDER THE PASSING UPPER LOW SHOULD SUPPORT AT LEAST ISOLD TO SCT
THUNDERSTORMS/THUNDERSNOW AT TIMES. CONFIDENCE IS HIGHEST ON
SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATING SNOW OVER THE MTNS AND ALSO NC FOOTHILL AND
PIEDMONT LOCATIONS ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 40. MORE OF A
RAIN/SNOW MIX IS EXPECTED TOWARD THE INTERSTATE 85 CORRIDOR AND
POINTS SOUTH...BUT LIKELY ENDING AS SNOW SHOWERS. WILL CONTINUE THE
HWO MENTION FOR THIS POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM SYSTEM.

The upslope has under performed last few days, still with the periodic light snow that is falling with temps in the teens all day, it has made for a great winter outdoor sports Saturday.

Wish more of you guys would venture out and head up here to Avery Country to enjoy true winter weather. It is really quite a sight with everthing covered in white yet the roads slagged up enough to get around.

Head on up!

Regarding next week, we'll have to see as it looks like it may even be rain for part of it here in the High Country. Would be great to get a solid good one but since the big snow in October, it is hard to get another big one in the pattern this winter.

A full fledged flizzard in Weaverville. Elevated surfaces have turned white. Say what you want about the amount of snow but one thing is for sure. Temps have been cold for the last 3 days. Not a March feel in the Mnts!

Yep Don these past three day my high here has not been above 36 degrees. By far the best three day for a winter feel to it. Well it has been hammering all evening here. Have picked back up to almost two inches and counting. Just laying the snow down.

I said sugar beech would end up getting 2-3 feet of snow by march 10th back on Tuesday. Well tonight Sugar will have well surpassed the 1 foot mark. It's very cold up there ATM and they are not only getting insane ratios but radar is loaded for the next 8-12 hours. In fact I'd be surprised if these showers don't break containment soon and make it down into the northern foothills, southern va counties. In the morning turn on the summit cam after sun up. Looks like soap duds with all the fresh powder piling up.
