The most snow I saw today was in the mtns of ne tenn. There was an inch or so on the ground when I crossed over the line on 26. Just off and on snow showers and flurries here in Franklin. Went I drove thru Asheville is was a torch! Sunny and 42 on the truck thermometer. Sorry Asheville guys, I see what you have been upset about.

Really a different world as close as up here in Weaverville. I was at work today but a glance at the temp & humidity on the weather station told a story of cloudy with off and on flurries. Never made it above 36° today. From noon to 3 I had a humidity spike into the upper 70% range.

I work downtown and we had the occasional flurry yesterday, but the sun was out almost all day.  But my view to the north was cloudy, very typical NWFS event.  I may need to drive north or west tomorrow to see a little bit of action.

LATEST UPPER ANALYSISAND SATELLITE WV IMAGERY SHOW AN UPPER TROUGH DEEPENING OVER THE MIDMS VALLEY REGION. MODELS AGREE THIS DEEPENING PROCESS WILL CONTINUEAS A SERIES OF DISTURBANCES TRAVERSE AROUND THE BASE... AND DRIVINGTHE SYSTEM EASTWARD... SUPPLYING AMPLE LIFT/FORCING ACROSS THEFORECAST AREA BEGINNING THIS EVENING AND CONTINUING THROUGH AT LEASTMID SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THIS COUPLED DEEPENING LOW-MID LEVELMOISTURE AND COLD AIR ADVECTION WILL COMBINE TO BRING A THREATWINTRY PRECIPITATION TO NORTH GA... MAINLY IN THE FORM OF SNOWBEGINNING BY MID-LATE EVENING ACROSS FAR NORTH GA AND SPREADINGSOUTHWARD INTO THE ATLANTA METRO AREA BY 5-7 AM SATURDAY MORNING ANDPOSSIBLY AREAS SOUTHWARD. TEMPERATURE PROFILES FROM BUFR SOUNDINGDATA SUGGEST ANY INITIAL LIGHT RAIN THIS EVENING WOULD CHANGE OVERTO SNOW BY 10PM TO MIDNIGHT... AND POSSIBLY BECOME HEAVY ENOUGH TOALLOW LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACES AS THESNOW SPREAD SOUTHWARD TOWARD ATLANTA THROUGH 8 AM SATURDAY. AT THISTIME... EXPECT THE GREATER CHANCE FOR LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS TO BEGENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A ROME TO CANTON TO GAINESVILLE TOHOMER LINE WHERE THE MOISTURE PROFILES ARE DEEPEST AND PERIOD OFPRECIPITATION WOULD BE LONGEST. ALTHOUGH ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD BELIGHT... WITH LESS THAN ONE INCH FOR MOST AREAS... EXCEPT POSSIBLY1-1.5 INCHES IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS... THIS COULD RESULT IN SLICKSPOTS ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES OVERNIGHT AND DURING THE MORNINGHOURS... EXCEPT EVEN LONGER IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS WHERE TEMPS MAYSTAY AROUND FREEZING ALL DAY. AS A RESULT... HAVE ISSUED A WINTERWEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE CONCERNED AREA FROM 10 PM THIS EVENINGTHROUGH 7 PM SATURDAY...WITH CONCERN MAINLY FOR THE HIGHERELEVATIONS SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE PRECIP WILL MOVE OUT BY SATURDAYEVENING ENDING THE WINTER THREAT... EXCEPT FOR POSSIBLY SOME PATCHESOF BLACK ICE FROM ANY LINGER MOISTURE ON ROADS SATURDAY NIGHT ASTEMPS FALL BELOW FREEZING AGAIN.WILL ALSO CONTINUE WITH THE FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT...AND WILL NEEDANOTHER FREEZE WARNING FOR SATURDAY NIGHT BUT WILL HOLD OFF ON THISUNTIL LATER FORECAST OR WHEN THE WINTER WEATHER THREAT HASDIMINISHED.
