Very nice, ultra high ratio FTW, amazing what a little elevation can do up on Mt. Geos :). I'm in ny because of a family emergency but thanks, would have gladly used this if I was at work. Do you ever send us in reports via espotter (if you're a trained spotter) or the public reports link? Also we gladly accept snow reports on our Facebook page. You and a lot of the posters on here really seem to know what you're doing with the snowfall measurements and you're passionate about it, you should seriously consider CoCoRaHS and your reports would always be used as LSRs by the office because reports like that go directly to AWIPS. To be honest, it seems as if we need more trusted spotter reports, sometimes it seems like even the espotter reports that come directly to AWIPS aren't great. I feel like I can always trust the reports here but at times it's tough to check this site when it's very busy.

Ok, I thought you might be in the area this weekend. I did send this particular report to Skilling this morning. Usually he notes it or someone from his weather team includes it in their report. I know he's relayed reports to the Romeoville office before.

I have posted on your facebook page. I got to running late this morning and had to get to Milwaukee, so I didn't have time send it in. The next one tomorrow night though, I will send in a report.

Lol, the SREF snow ratio map that was posted on here seemed to work out great. It showed this location on the edge of the 30:1+ snowfall ratios.

Whoops, posted this in the wrong thread...

Here's a few more pictures:

I figure I'll share this with the community for those not well versed in photography, but if your camera has a manual mode on it, you can adjust the exposure, aperture and ISO settings manually since most camera's auto functions aren't really that good with night time pictures. The night mode usually sets the ISO high, and they end up looking too noisy and grainy. Anyways, the best settings I found with taking pictures at night with snow on the ground, was no flash, an ISO setting of 100, f/2.8 and exposure at 3 seconds. Make sure you're using a tripod as well. Use longer exposure times if you're not in the city.

Great pictures on here.

Took another one near Racine on the way towards Milwaukee. Excuse the streaks on the wind shield. Would have pulled off and got out to take it, but the shoulder was really narrow.

So, it looks like an advisory snow for tomorrow night?

Per NAM, all 4 clippers fail here. It's poetry in motion watching that midweek clipper just crumble as it heads towards the Ontario peninsula.

Two missteps is enough. I'm never starting a clipper thread again.

Sucks for YBY for sure, and this may not be any consolation, but this thread is already more successful than your previous effort. Granted, standards are low these days...

But it is the NAM you know. I don't know...hopefully we can get one of these to hit up there.

Decent blob of reflectivity crossing the Mississippi appears to be on track to hit Madison, will probably get a half inch as forecasted. Pretty narrow event, might last a couple hours.

Nice - moving this way too. Forecast is for 1/2" or less here.

Looks like the GFS is still doing the pivot maneuver over the area.

Nope. Too imby-centric for it to be. Wish I was more like Hoosier.

I just don't like driving on it...I think it's because of a bad experience several years ago that has stuck with me.

I think I remember you having a harrowing experience on a LES trip, no?

Well, you haven't had much to worry about with snow packed roads around here lately. :)
