Stebo
So ORD ended up with 2.9" with this one, I'll go with 1.1" for tonight/tomorrow's little clipper.
Chargers09
I think you're finally noticing the difference between Western Wayne County versus extreme eastern Macomb and Wayne Counties. There's a difference out that way for some reason that corner of the Detroit area does not get much snow. It's always an issue one way or another with something. Probably culture shock being that you were in ARB and Livonia which usually does pretty well. We've been the jackpot on 2 systems this year, but lost out on lake effect events. It all evens out. Chargers09
Piled up another .5 or so to put the storm total to 2 inches. Nice and fluffy snow.

Lots are in very good shape and main entery points are wet and snow free. Started to loose the back portions of the lot for lack of traffic but all in all a great day out. Over 12hrs contious snow today:)

wxman_ind
Getting trolled by a IND met FTL. Wasn't trying to be mean, but I didn't want you to get your hopes up. :-) Saw some decent size snowflakes at the office, but no accumulation. michsnowfreak
lol it will not stop snowing. My 3.3" was at 6pm when I cleared the board I surely have picked up at least a tenth since then. These stubborn flakes have made the snowpack glisten like a billion diamonds. Its as gorgeous a winter night as you can get. 7pm RTP snow depth: MBS 1", FNT 2", DTX 2", DTW 6" lol dont see that every day. I imagine ARB has 7" depth or so. Its funny because while there are big snow piles in parking lots, the sides of main roads dont really have them. Usually when theres 6" on the ground you have plowed snow lining the road, this time you have the snow draping over the curb and getting deeper as you get away from the street, a product of 5 days of snows that the main roads required salting not plowing. By the way took a core sample of our 6" depth...0.35" water. Keep those mild temps away please.

But they also tend be rather anti climatic.

daddylonglegs
Are these clippers, maulers or screamers? Haven't been paying attention on where they are coming out of...
snowstormcanuck
Nah no pun. Basically lacking the enjoyment of a ripping a snowstorm. But with light, gentle snowfalls, you know what you're getting. No reason for it to make you feel disappointed. For constant disappointment, you should come live where I do. michsnowfreak
Nah no pun. Basically lacking the enjoyment of a ripping a snowstorm. We had ripping rates for an hour or so on Jan 27, Jan 31, Feb 1, and Feb 2 that were better than any we saw during our actual 6"-8" snowstorm Dec 26th, and thats often the case. And todays feathers fell steadily but calmly all day, adding up nicely. Lots of different ingredients that make up winter, no set script for any of it. Jonger
Wonder if there's any lake enhancement beefing up the clipper in the same areas that have been getting LE the past few days. Nasso much on this one as on Saturday's, but here's (an incomplete) high-lights list for SWMI: 0700 AM SNOW 5 SSW GRAND RAPIDS 42.90N 85.70W 02/04/2013 M2.0 INCH KENT MI COCORAHS 24 HOUR SNOWFALL. SNOW DEPTH WAS 15 INCHES. (can vouch for this, I was up there yesterday and serious snow OTG) 0700 AM SNOW 2 W WAYLAND 42.67N 85.68W 02/04/2013 M23.9 INCH ALLEGAN MI TRAINED SPOTTER 4 DAY SNOWFALL. SNOW DEPTH WAS 10.5 INCHES. Other summary from GRR for 24hrs ending 10am were in the 1-5" range with most in the 2-4" range. I just got back from Allegan and Kent county..... Definitely 10-15 inch depth SW of Grand Rapids.... Tapers off just east of 131.

ACtually, we also had rates nearing 1" per hour with the storm on the 26th-28th,. It's just that the consistently heavier rates were north and west of you. There were a couple of mesoscale discusions about it (and heavy snow MDs seem quite uncommon these days) http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/2012/md2238.html http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/2012/md2233.html The flakes were also very fluffy. On top of all that, we had significant blowing/drifting too.

cyclone77
My grid point has me at 1-3" now. GFS showing DLL some love there. GFS has been a bit too wet on the dry/southern edge of these clippers. That has us getting 0.01-0.03" of precip, but I expect nothing.

Certainly wasnt trying to take away from that storm, obviously my favorite storm this winter. Just that this has been my favorite week of weather this winter (minus the torch). michsnowfreak
Final total today here 3.5". This is my 3rd 3"+ snowfall (3.1" on Jan 31/Feb 1st, 3.1" on Feb 2nd, 3.5" on Feb 4th) in 5 days. Sorry to go crazy with pics, but I had to try and capture the sparkles tonight. Love when the snow glistens like diamonds, and this is among the best Ive seen. The pics are ok, but do not do it justice.
