Here's a pic of Mt. Mitchell from the southeast this morning after sunrise.  Wind was relentless just before sunrise, gusting over 40 mph, and the temp climbed from 27 at 4 a.m. to 37 at 6 a.m., then back to 30 at 8 a.m.  Looks like tonight will be the coldest yet here five miles north of Lake Lure. It's already 28, and dropping fast. Low for the winter here is 23. Low last winter was 15, and 8 the winter before. Still hoping for some white stuff tomorrow.....

brief light flurry here just south of Dahlonega.  from my house I can see white on top of Springer mountain (southern terminus of AT).  it was really light but snow nonetheless!

 

edit: bigger flakes coming down now.  Ok I think I can legitemately use the word flurry now ;-)
