The winter of 2010-2011 gets a A-.  The only real significant events came in December with a pair of events in early- to mid-February and then, of course, the 6" from the Christmas Day Storm.  I saw snow fly many more times over the rest of the winter, but nothing really significant came of it.  The fact that I finally got to see a White Christmas pretty much guaranteed that it would get an A!

:lmao:

Ugh.  Every time someone mentions that 2010 Christmas storm I have to grit my teeth. No white Christmas here.  I'm only a few miles south of you and got basically nothing.  It rained with a few flakes mixed in all Christmas day.  Changed over after dark Christmas and left a glorified dusting the next morning.

Blended the NAM and 1-2 other short term models too...GFS always throws precip up to Wilkes/Surry but I have to go over and beyond to discount it if the short range models don't agree. Lots of hard work and decisions to sweat over.

My general outlook for Monday night into Tuesday...

Mountains 3-5 above 4,000ft...1-3 down to roughly 3,000ft....possibly changing to rain for some below 3,500ft.

Foothills...sleet...mix...quickly to rain...not much precip Mount Airy eastward. Little if any wintery precip accumulation below 3,000ft.

Piedmont...not much precip for Winston/Greensboro area...rain. Passing rain shower chance southward too.

Looks like some 1st grade art work that you would hang on the fridge. For the most part, this is nothing more than a NWS based forecast.
