If you look at the axis center point on the January 2000 map I posted and look at the latest NAM above it. The latest NAM is centered over about Waynesville, but Jan 2000 was centered over about Chattanooga. So this is the distance and sorta benchmark the triad needs to get back to.

This kind of talk makes me sad.

I tell Y'all what...if this winter was a tick I'd smush it with tweezers, run over it with the truck, stick a straight pin in it, douse it with rubbin' alcohol, spray it with Aqua Net and strike a match to it. Then I'd bury it under a rose bush, make myself a sweet tea, sit on the front porch and call us even! About one more 40-ish/rain and I'ma flip out!

Just like 3/1/09 saved the winter of 2008-2009 for a lot of us (except those who got jackpotted from the Inauguration Snowstorm over near Raleigh), the great storm of February 26th-27th, 2013 shall save the winter of 2012-2013.  Prepare for an epic end to winter!

:weenie:

hope your right if the cold air is around, of which always seems to be what is missing.  last couple of storms we've had plenty of rain.  had those storms been snow wnc would have had about 5 feet of snow with both of those rain makers.

I once saw a blizzard in March, in Georgia :)  T

I know, but I think that was a once in a lifetime party...I mean weather event. I have little faith in winter weather for MBY past V-Day and if we get anything it's usually ice. Bumming big time....AGAIN and can't drown my sorrows in a bottle of suds, double bummer. Guess I'll set my sights to what to plant in the next few weeks, I got a new flower catalog today.

Don't plant until the old dead leaves drop of the little oaks that are still holding them.  There are blooms out and buds everywhere, and they won't come back until May probably.  Hubris like that always finds the swatter.  This is just screaming for a late freeze to squash them all.  The last cold day is often Sat. at the Masters, lol.  I don't fall for this two wall to wall summer like winters in a row..we are being suckered in, lol.  T

I'm trying not to be suckered in by the fantasy storms that keep teasing me on the GFS!!! I know we will still have some hard Freeze(s) at some point, but I have blueberry blossoms already. Now they are only showing here and there like pimples on a teenager, but I think we might be cooked for this winter. Poke me with a fork I am medium to medium well at this point.

Did you forget all about 3/1/09? :)

In all seriousness, it does seem next weekend and a couple weeks out are more of a threat than this weekend. Of course, it could all go to waste, but it could just as easily give us a monster snow. When it comes to winter around here, all bets are off.

My 10 day snow total for the year has passed 7 feet. It has been one hell of a fantasy winter.

Now that you mention it I remember being quite ruffled by the kid traffic through the front door. Wet, soppy, hungry flow of children tracking slush through the house.I think there was a Gunsmoke Marathon on the DVD and a mean game of Monopoly.

The meaning of the word "Party" certainly changes from '93 to 2009. LOL
