Even without a strong HP to the north, there will be some sort of in-situ wedge down the apps.  I guess my perspective is slightly skewed since I live west of town by about 40 miles.  BL could certainly be an issue...especially closer to I-95 and east.

True but look at the surface overall. Even an in-situ wedge doesn't have much cold to draw on. It's going to be a wet snow (if any snow). Surface won't be friendly until the 850 clears our latitude. But I agree with N-W because that's always the case.

Bob's eternal optimism is rubbing off on you. It's a sickness but I thought the same thing about the NAm for what the 84hr NAM is worth.

While we are in a lull, the sickness idea needs addressing. It's a sickness that I think some of us are born with. There's no cure, no ridding ourselves of it, regardless of what Leesburg says. There are times in life when other things might push it to the background, but it's always there. People like me, Bob, Ji, Matt, dd, Fozz, Randy, Ian, and others including I think Wes, are eat up with it. There's no therapy, no cure, only a temporary fix every now an then.

And you know what, that's perfectly OK.

I think a more accurate term for what you ascribe to you and your buds is compulsive behavior - "defined as performing an act persistently and repetitively without it leading to an actual reward or pleasure"

Pretty good description of the last two years if you like snow.

The President's day set up seems pretty "easy" as well... the low will not cut into the lakes with a block forecasted into the Baffin/Davis Straight area at that time... we'll battle a R/S/PL line somewhere in this region, but needless to say the Feb 13 and 17 storms will be fun to track.  It's truly the thrill of the hunt.

And I've also watched practically every skins game over the last 10+ years. Snow has brought more pleasure.

The GFS looks like a leesburg special to me with us getting dc-ized.  Luckily, it's still far enough out in time things will change and for this storm, that is a much bigger deal for us than the last.

DC might be the worst snow town ever

On to the simple HECS for PDAY!!1!

What? It's easy as crap to lose out on snow around here.

Honestly, the difference a minor. Low get's crankin a hair later. Euro will show a bomb so we're good. And it's easy.

With the fast flow, I feel like later seems more feasible. Perhaps that's just my frustrations due to my friends and family digging out while I'm staring at brown grass. Hmm... Probably the latter.

The superens D+11 and D+8 analogs have been averaging 2 to 3 events if you center them 3 days either side of the centered mean even with the negative NAO. That suggests that it never is easy unless you get a 2009-2010 pattern.
