Bob Chill
There will be no ice on any rd that has been treated in the last week and prob not on those that haven't . Mailboxes, grills and evergreens will be on the highlight reel if there is one.

With temps in the upper 20's already in places, frigid ground, any rain that falls is going to have no trouble freezing. Main roads probably be fine, less traveled roads, parking lots, sidewalks might be messy.Do we get the precip?

BTRWx
Quite a bit of morning moisture on the HRRR, but I don't know if this would be frozen: if http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/HRRR/displayMapLocalDiskDateDomain.cgi?keys=hrrr_jet:&runtime=2013012722&plot_type=1ref_sfc&fcst=14&time_inc=60&num_times=16&model=hrrr&ptitle=HRRR%20Model%20Fields%20-%20Experimental&maxFcstLen=15&fcstStrLen=-1&domain=full&adtfn=1 precipitation type for same time period: http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/HRRR/displayMapLocalDiskDateDomain.cgi?keys=hrrr_jet:&runtime=2013012722&plot_type=ptyp_sfc&fcst=14&time_inc=60&num_times=16&model=hrrr&ptitle=HRRR%20Model%20Fields%20-%20Experimental&maxFcstLen=15&fcstStrLen=-1&domain=full&adtfn=1 I feel like this might be being taken a little too lightly, imo

winterymix
The Rapid Refresh Model shows very light precipitation entering the Baltimore-Washington corridor around 6 AM. The 2 meter temperature gets above freezing by or before 10 am. This is typical of light freezing rain events that occur just before sunrise with very light to calm winds. Some areas may receive 0.03 hundredths of an inch of liquid precip. Problem areas will likely be localized to valleys with cold pooling near the surface and on some elevated roads that receive an hour or so of very light freezing rain. I got caught in an event like that a few years ago and it took 2 1/2 hours to drive 9 miles through the Green Spring Valley in bumper to bumper traffic that was paralyzed and yet everywhere else in the area, driving conditions were normal. WinterWxLuvr
I've been bragging on the RAP lately, but right now it's sim radar is nowhere close to what's happening. Looks much wetter in reality. Of course that can change.

NeffsvilleWx
I have a feeling this is going to surprise a few people. I haven't checked the model runs for the mid-atlantic, but the latest runs of the nam, rap and euro keep temps below freezing until mid-evening in the lower susquehanna valley. Eskimo Joe
Dewpoints are very low from I-70 north. That plus several hours of precip in the dark certainly add to my beliefs that tomorrow morning could be dicey on the roads.

WVclimo
Fell to 26 degrees earlier, but now back up to 28 with the clouds moving in. DP is still 18. Got above freezing for 2 hours this afternoon, but no higher than 33. Streak of below freezing ended at 140 hours. Ground is plenty cold with some roads here still snow covered.
