WE GOT HIM
It seems that the friction between land and water, along with updrafts are strengthening the Thunderstorms. Agreed, think they will hold for the city?
HailMan06
Wind suddenly went dead calm. Weird.

Dark Energy
Severe thunderstorm warning for Mercer, Somerset and Morris county in NJ. That line came thru here just recently and it was not svr. It was just below criteria. Will be interesting to see if they get any validation to the warning. In other news.... I thought this was worthy of a mention from earlier tonight from OKX. Something I've never seen. Weathergun
Winds are ripping here too. Jackson Heights CWOP reported 51mph earlier in the hour. LGA now 52mph gust, There's MUCAPES 500-1000> J/kg ahead of the line. I think it should hold into LI:

mgerb
Incredibly heavy rain with the squall. Blinding, like nothing I can recall seeing during the winter. In fact, my Davis showed a peak rain rate of 8.73"/hr, which is just bonkers for any time, let alone January. Winds were nothing special though. Dark Energy
I was in the line earlier in W NJ. Gusted to maybe 45. Nothing major. It was a true squall tho. Thats for sure. Not sure after it moved east of here and the warnings were issued if that will verify. Will have to see.

Dark Energy
Funny thing is my lights flickered before the squall, and I thot I was doomed. But they stayed on. Then as the squall came, there were no issues. LOL

SnoSki14
Could see strong post frontal winds with the strong cold air advection as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see numerous gusts in the 40s and 50s later today.
