Brick Tamland
Some storms can pop off around 7pm though ahead of the squall line...making it seem like it's reached us before it actually has, but I'd definitely listen to the NWS over what the NAM is saying at this point in time, haha. But it definitely has slowed down since last night per the models. I was hopinh it would come sooner than later. NC doesn't do well with tornadoes overnight. Hammer
I was working from home today and the storm missed up by, maybe, 1.5 miles. It went between where I was and where my daughter was in school. Damage to the town of Adairsville is extensive. I would be surprised if this wasn't an EF-3 at the very least. With all of the roads closed, it took a while to get back to the house. Luckily for us, our subdivision has underground lines and the power just came back on but much of Adairsville is older and may not get power back for a while based on what I witnessed. Glad you are safe.
kanc2001
I use to live in SE Cherokee County said the same thing there, must be something with the topography I justed asked about you in the other thread. Good to hear you and yours are ok. North Bartow has become a tornado magnet.

rosie
Man, I am sick of this already. I thought the area of Cherokee I used to live at was bad but this is our 3rd brush with literal disaster in 2 years. Thanks for you guys thinking about us. The town is pitiful. So happy you and family are safe, rough day for many.

buckeyefan1
I'd be getting pretty nervous if I were in my hometown of Columbia SC to Florence area. Sun out, its hot and look whats coming. Just texted my oblivious sister and parents there to keep an eye to the sky. Not nervous here Watching.....yes The sun has been out a lot more than I expected today and some cells to my northwest are starting to fire. I was working from home today and the storm missed up by, maybe, 1.5 miles. It went between where I was and where my daughter was in school. Damage to the town of Adairsville is extensive. Jon
Good deal, thanks man. Do you know if more wind reports should accompany that line as it moves east or is it at it's peak now? I thought the LLJ is supposed to strengthen with time.... Not sure about all that, don't know enough to answer your question. Maybe a met can chime in... I know that per the 18z NAM yesterday the surface winds were higher once they reached NC, progged over 60+ mph...the hurricane force winds seen so far weren't progged in that area per earlier NAM runs, I think they were around 40-50 mph in that area. I think we'll see some decent winds, especially for northern NC counties into VA. Maps are archived at instantweathermaps.com

Greg, It is good to hear you and your family are ok though sad what happened nearby, of course. Wow! In Dunwoody, I had a quick thunderstorm at 2:30 PM-2:45 PM that produced very heavy rains and gusty winds. Heard only a few rumbles of thunder. Not too bad..which is fine as I didn't want any tornadoes too close.
