CapturedNature
Meanwhile decent inversion setting up, 36/30 at 1k at home. Kevin's snowpack should be getting obliterated as we speak 38° at 1200' in Union and 35° at 650'...Seems pretty linear.

SlantStickers Anonymous
32 glorious degrees. Lots of slush on the sidewalks and snowcover on the grass.

nzucker
BOS finally ticked up to 33F....first time above freezing in 9 days. The longevity of this cold snap was impressive even though it wasn't an extreme arctic outbreak. Here are my dailies: 1/21: 30/22 1/22: 26/12 1/23: 23/9 1/24: 26/9 1/25: 24/11 1/26: 28/12 1/27: 35/15 Down here, nearly a week of constant sub-freezing temps with five days only reaching the 20s is fairly impressive. Having only two nights down to 9F isn't that great though...I hit 2.5F back in the January 2011 cold spell, and I've been below 0F in 2009, 2005, and 2004. It definitely lacked that one truly bitter night with a heavy snowpack, which we haven't seen in a while here.

Through yesterday all four sne majors were between +1.4-+2.0, all were above today with two massive departures coming to end the month, so in the end it looks like between +2-+3.5 will be the final at pvd orh bdl and bos, despite the arctic blast and despite the first couple days which were very cold. Keep in mind the F6 data is missing a double digit departure day on Jan 26. The monthly departures on there are about a half degree too high. ORH_wxman
Thanks Will, I did not know that. Wont make a huge difference, everyone will still finish positive anyway...but just for the sake of accuracy. You can see a bunch of "M"s for the 26th. I have no idea why either since the CLI for that day got recorded.
nzucker
Well NYC doesnt typically get that type of night We did have cold temperatures with snow cover in 2009, 2005, and 2004. My dailies from 2009 were a bit more impressive: 1/14: 32/15 1/15: 20/10 1/16: 20/7 1/17: 20/3 1/18: 29/20 January 2009 was a bit more short-lived but peaked much colder and with much heavier snow cover. Those temperatures are from downtown...my thermometer got below 0F on 1/17...

December wasn't much better.
