Another one of these scenarios where northern Fairfield County switches over to sleet/freezing rain while the coast in New Haven County is still snow. Sleeting in New Fairfield per reports and freezing rain in Danbury.

Bright sleet echoes are washing out as they move over me, indicating that this cold air may have some decent staying power east of the Taconics/Berkshires. Still all snow, but dryslot is punching in fast so even if we don't flip right away, the snow will let up.

Really? Looks like it's playing out as we thought. About an inch of snow for many in CT (maybe 2 on Mass border) and now it's sleeting in Litchfield Co.

Less freezing rain and sleet, although it depends how you look at it. Models were kind of off in their timing, with NAM/GFS missing out on morning precip. End result was a bit more snow in some areas and a quicker shutoff time.

In addition to warmth and an incredible lack of snow, an on going theme has been the unbelievable progressive nature of the flow.  It seems every storm comes and goes in a flash.  How many times has what was supposed to be a fast mover move even faster than forecast.  The back edge has been visible within a few hours of onset for seemingly every "event" the past two winters.  Even the one snow storm we saw on 12/29 rocketed out of here in under 8 hours.  I know blocking has been at a premium but this is getting ridiculous.

Yeah the ice is the story. The period of FZRA and FZDZ is what will muck up the evening commute. Forecast was pretty much dead on.
