Like we said yesterday an over performer for snow and less ice. Always happens with deep arctic air

Less freezing rain and sleet, although it depends how you look at it. Models were kind of off in their timing, with NAM/GFS missing out on morning precip. End result was a bit more snow in some areas and a quicker shutoff time.

Looks like an early wrap up. Back edge flying through upstate NY.

In addition to warmth and an incredible lack of snow, an on going theme has been the unbelievable progressive nature of the flow.  It seems every storm comes and goes in a flash.  How many times has what was supposed to be a fast mover move even faster than forecast.  The back edge has been visible within a few hours of onset for seemingly every "event" the past two winters.  Even the one snow storm we saw on 12/29 rocketed out of here in under 8 hours.  I know blocking has been at a premium but this is getting ridiculous.

The ice was being portrayed as the big deal. Not that 2 inches of snow is a big deal. But snow hung on much longer than some posters said this morning

Yeah the ice is the story. The period of FZRA and FZDZ is what will muck up the evening commute. Forecast was pretty much dead on.
