I'm thinking that the icing issue is going to be more of an issue on the ground than anywhere else.  My ground temps are in the upper 20s and it's not like they warm suddenly.  The main roads around here look pretty well treated from our past systems so lets hope that holds and things go pretty smooth.  I would be more concerned about untreated secondaries or sidewalks and the like.  Otherwise, commutes are going to be tricky.

hi-res nam continues the theme its had the last few runs with the corner of SW MA and most of CT basically being a few flurries / short-lived period of light snow to start then straight to sleet or ice. it then slows the warming significantly further E and N of there. it really never gets to the pike and even stalls in SE MA for quite some time. SE corner of the the region goes to light rain tonight.

should be a nasty evening for the CT weenies with ice/sleet and temps in the upper 20s.

This whole system is NBD, 1 or 2" of snow with a little frdz at the end is pretty meh

Man we've lost ya dryslot.  This season, this is a major winter storm.  The best 3-6 hours of January en route, lol.

Anyway...

Pretty cool view out side from the upper elevations... snowing down to about 2,500-3,000ft and virga below that.  The summits are behind that milky white shield of snow.

-SN and 16F at 3,500ft

Cloudy and 10F at 1,500ft.

Well, If it was going to stick around and we were going to build on it on weds-thurs would be one thing, But when your going to be looking at mostly bare ground after thurs and it has been as bad a year as last year so far, There is really not much more to say other then what some have already said here, Hopefully the next 2-3 weeks pan out

Not only is there that low that develops SE of the Cape but there's actually a sfc high of like 1022mb that builds into NNE overnight tonight to assist the cold tuck even further.

I'm wondering if the good CAD spots in N ORH county and up into Monads and E slopes GC don't even make it above freezing tomorrow. Guess it depends on how quickly the winds can flip south and then mix out the inversion....typically that takes longer than models prog.

Well the last cold tuck in early December worked well for the RPM and it indeed keeps you below freezing in the aftn. Even at 18z BOS is barely 32F. Unless the sun comes out...I think models are too bullish for the interior WRT warming temps.
