Nephew just sent me a picture of a 7 to 8 pound walleye (26-27 inches) full of spawn that he caught out of the Mississippi River this past Sunday nite...  Said he had issues fitting it through through the hole (they were ice fishing)...  Not sure when they spawn around here, but i guess they've been catching quite a few full of spawn for a couple of weeks now.   He let this one go, as do most guys that catch then when they are full of spawn.

managed 33F today.  More of the same tomorrow.

Interesting.  Thought most fish did that in the spring.  Nice to see the walleyes are reproducing.

Here is the pic of my nephew/walleye...

Caught up at the dam by Dresbach, MN...  Just across the river from La Crosse.  Its hit or miss up there...sometimes lots of fish/sometimes none.  Its also a dangerous place to fish, at least in my opinion.  Tons of current, deep water (20ft) and thin ice that changes often...  My guess is the water came up after this weekends 1/2 inch of rain, but i haven't checked.

Snow in the forecast for Thursday...

Admittingly, we are getting into the time of year where surface boundary layer temps will have an impact on precipitaton type, even when the temps above the surface are favorable for snow. Of course this is when the temp profiles are marginal.

This is why getting big storms with high precipitation rates is becoming inreasingly crucial.

Significant lake effect possibilities continue to show up for Friday-Sunday. Although a lot of veering and some periods of disorganization precludes specific predictions, someone in the subforum is going to get blasted.

IWX is banging the drum this morning.

LOL...while "yawn" GRR is saying "light lake effect" all weekend...

Yeah..i don't think you want to be eating many 8 pound walleyes out of the Mississippi :)  Panfish are more to my liking (sunfish/crappies)...prefer ice caught fish (firmer texture in winter vs summer)...usually walleyes around 15-17 inches (15 is the smallest you can keep) are great eaters...  Sauger (very similar to walleyes/prettier) can be smaller and are just as good.

Nice day..sunshine/mild...should see plenty of melt this afternoon.

Environment Canada is calling for an inch of snow tomorrow from a weak clipper system. But it will change to rain/rain showers as temperatures rise into the mid 30s.

Yeah, there are bl temp problems. Otherwise this would have the potential for maybe a couple of inches.

And to answer your sig question: Leafs, Jays, then Raptors.
