Snow depth down to 5" here this morning.  Slush puddles are huge and deep on a lot of the sidewalks and streets here after the .65" rain yesterday. Also a bit of light freezing rain or drizzle fell overnight so everything's a mess.  Edit: maybe there wasn't any ZR- overnight - I guess we may have gotten so much rain yesterday that when the temp. dropped below freezing overnight it left a frozen layer instead of just drying the surface.

My driveway is still a mess even after I spent some time scraping off ice and slush yesterday, but it's light colored and slightly north sloping so it's not surprising.

If we get sunshine and mid 30s on Wed. that might help clear things off a bit.

Pretty ugly out there today with the melting snow and strong winds. Our snowpack took a decent hit. Was at around 11" yesterday and now stands at around 5". There's some bare grass where people's footsteps were but we still have a solid snowcover, even if it is the gross, dirty grey kind. A whole lotta glaciers out there, too. Ahh, winter.

Wow, I had 10" when I measured this morning. Impressive to lose half of it without heavy rain/sunshine/sublimation.

What a worthless syatem this last one was. Went to bed with just a sprinkling of rain (0.09") and full snowcover...then through the night temps climbed to the mid-40s and held all night. Woke up to just piles and a few patches of snow left, with falling temps and howling winds. NOT a fan.

Yeah, that's not the way I like snow cover to go. I'd rather have it go slowly by the work of the sun, not rain/mild, then back to cold. Pointless that way around.

Potholes are insane around here again..  last year we got a break, not so much this year.  I thought my front shocks were blown after I hit a crater out on Hwy 16...  Upon closer inspection, a lot of area roads are in horrible condition (nothing new)...Interstate looks good still, but they usually keep that in good shape.  One downside to lots of little snowfalls are that the plows have to hit the roads more=more damage to roadways...

DLL-

I drove down a couple roads yesterday and as I drove over certain spots, my tires were flicking up chunks of asphalt as I went along! Had to try and dodge the large potholes there were like 3-4" deep and wide enough for a tire to go down into.

28° right now with winds still gusting around 30mph.

Backyard camera shot of the remaining 7" of snow cover.

I'm still at 10" here, down from about 15" yesterday.

I just got stuck trying to get up the hill at the entrance to my parent's driveway.  There's about 2 inches of very fresh super-wet snow right on top of a half inch thick layer of pure glaze.  It's one of those situations where the new snow isn't bonded to the ice at all and just serves to hide it while providing little if any traction.

Their stupid driveway is one of those where you have to make a rather sharp turn with trees close by on both sides as you go uphill.  Once my back side fish-tailed into the snow bank on the side and both front drive wheels had only ice left under them it was one of those situations where you can neither go forward nor backward.  I fell three times trying to carry the 40 lb bucket of salt down the drive.  Luckily there was only about 20 feet of hill above that I had to salt.  I used almost half of it.  Ugh.

I think we managed to hit a high of 45F this morning. The actual amount of water in the snow hasn't changed much but it went from being something like 15:1 to more like 8:1.

Nice DTW leading the pack. We have had a lot of windy days this winter. the wind makes it feel a lot colder than it is...I was actually freezing when I walked out of work at 34F lol. The snow piles are rock hard and the few patches of snow left in unexposed areas are ice.

Sitting at a cloudy 24°, calm winds. Daytime high was 32° for Monday. Lots of new patches of ice out there tonight.

It's still thick black ice galore out in the sticks where my parents live.  Getting in and out of their driveway and walking their dog is a real chore.  Could probably use some ice skates to walk the dog, lol.

Generally 3-4" fell last night here in Antrim County.  Only flurries remaining today but a beautiful Winter day again. Snow depths remain good as well.  Will take solid warm weather to erode the snowpack at this point, as the bottom 15" is heavy and frozen.
