Temps have been torching at Milwaukee (I know, lol).  34F for the past few hours, when the graphical forecast had projected 31F at midnight.  This is among the reasons I'm not buying the snowy models.  I may have to decrease the snow projection even further into the 1-3" range if things start looking bleaker.

Dewpoints are much lower on this side of the lake.  I think once the wind shifts more easterly the temperature will drop.

Maybe it's me but I wouldn't obsess over temps at this point. Wetbulb/dynamic cooling should take care of that and force the temp down toward freezing by late morning/early afternoon or earlier I'd think.

Rainfall total ended up at 0.68".  The small amount of wet snow that accumulated in the gauge melted and brought the total up to 0.71" for the day.  So 0.71" precip/0.3" snow here today.  Still a few patches of wet snow out there on grassy surfaces, but most of it has already melted.  LOTS of standing water around from all the rain combined with frozen soil.  Many of the farm fields had lakes of standing water in them when I was driving home from work late this afternoon.

The nearly 35" gradient from the Quad Cities to Madison is impressive.  Hopefully a major storm in the next couple weeks hits cities like DVN, LAF, Chitown, et al.

Yeah, that would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it.

Haven't looked at models lately.  Is there anything that looks like it might be something in the offing out there? .....

So, the models show some activity... most of it occurring as rain, from the looks of it.  Also showing some cold temps in there as well.

Nothing to write home about, as it were.  Obviously things will change, but somehow.... meh.....

Lots of nice skating rinks over many farm fields today.  Sort of weird to see so many lakes of ice with no snow anywhere around it.

Coming home on 88 I saw several vehicles with lots of snow on their roofs.

Probably came from my area!

I'll post the rest of my noteworthy pics here:

This was at the end of the day, so no real melting on the trees.

Shoveled driveway - done! ~5 hours to do, including yesterday.

Shoveling wasn't quite done at this time!
