The last shot is kinda creepy. If you don't noticed the rope that it's tied to of course.

Nice pics though. I'm jealous. :)

Thanks.... I'm constantly out exploring the woods and stuff here.

Well I want to keep the antlers. Last one I buried the head in the ground and only left the antlers visible, hoping to let Ma nature do her thing and leave me the antlers, but something dug it up and ran off with it. So I hung this one from a tree, and when warmth comes this spring, I'll have the skull and antlers to keep.

That's cool. I was really just kidding. When I first saw it, it looked like a body-less deer. Then I saw the rope. :D

You have to skin the head, then nature will take the course on the meat, plus the birds will help, though I'd imagine doing that now would probably be pretty rank.

That's a European mount.

Someone also told me to boil it.  At this point, I'm gonna see what happens when it warms up.

Oh, did not know that.

Well the Deer population in MI is a huge problem so go kill some more!

The deer population in MI vs IN is stressed.  Yes, there's a lot of them but they are under a lot of pressure, and on the run constantly from  constant hunting.  People up here(and I'm sure that poverty plays a role), but they rely on these animals for food year 'round.  They hunt even when it isn't hunting season.  This was  4pt buck and I was told it was large for this area.  People don't hunt with a conscience.  If it's brown they shoot it.... nothing is ever allowed to mature.  In Indiana, the hunting isn't as prevalent, plus the deer are corn fed.... So you see a healthier, larger deer population.  Not sure how S MI is.  But yeah, lots and lots of deer here, but they are kept in check... perhaps too much.

Just my take.

Wow. I know people around my hometown (Decatur, IL~ish) would hardly talk about a 4pt buck. Those are the type that go right in the freezer, and anyone who asked you tell them "yep, got a small deer"

Exactly...  And again, down there the deer mostly eat corn.  Here, they don't have that, so naturally they aren't quite as big, but for the reasons I mentioned above, it's hard to find older deer here. Not that they aren't here tho....  Last Sept while yakn'  I saw the largest buck I had ever seen.  Huge, muscle bound 16pt buck.... beautiful!  Few and far between tho.  Woods are so thick, people can hunt with ease year 'round and not worry too much from authorities.

Hunting is a sport here of course, but it's also a necessity for a lot of folks who could care less what size or how mature the deer is.

Yeah up here a 4 point buck is nothing special either.

White tail population is unatuturally high in all of MI acordding to MSU and the DNR. Its a big problem in that it disturbes the natural forest cycle. Over populated and large herds of deer can destroy the underbrush and seedlings.

Right, and I agree.  My tangent was mainly empahsizing the deer size (related to the irresponsible hunting) rather than the amount.  There's definitely a ton of deer.

Made it to 28° today. Mostly cloudy to cloudy all day. Brief window of sun around mid-morning.

Almost never fails, there's either snow on the ground or it does snow on my b-day! Glad this year was able to produce snow today. :snowing:

Nice picture weatherbo! That last one really threw me for a loop for a minute. lol

Got some pictures myself today -that will be coming later.

NWS central region is starting the impact based severe t'storm and tornado warnings this year.

I don't know if i like the "Severe Thunderstorm Warning... Tornado Possible" type warning, I mean if rotation has been indicated by radar what is not to say it doesn't drastically strengthen on the next sweep. The rest however, look great.
