Believe me, I do appreciate the snow pack, if for nothing else, that it enhances baroclinic zones during the Spring, especially with a healthy one over the Prairies, Rockies and Inter-mountain West.

Yeah and production of a healthier snow pack across the plains should happen with this system.

I think people who don't appreciate snow cover mostly live...

a.) Mid-Atlantic

b.) South of 40 N.

c.) north of 45 N.

South of 40 it's too transient to appreciate as even the biggest snowstorm typically melts within a week or two.  North of 45 snow cover is taken for granted. It's that midwest belt between 40 and 45 degrees where snow cover is special.  Blockbuster storms with 15" or more all at once are too rare to crave for, but a week of clippers and lake effect events each dropping 2-5 inches followed by a 9" cutter leaving a solid layer of knee deep powder is attainable in a good year.

I'm not so sure. While only at 45.162, I know that when Winter got off to a slow start here, It was in the air and people were talking about it. I think areas that can take the snow for granted, usually don't because it's such a part of the area. people rely on it and if it isn't here, it isn't normal.

Personally, I find it boring to watch weather events unfold on a computer screen, but that's just me. I'm sure there aren't very many that disagree with me either.

Well I have lived all my life in a region that very seldom sees severe weather and whatnot so I've learned to make do.

Probably helps that I was originally a tornado history/climatology buff before I got into forecasting/synoptics.

snow lovers doesn't = snow cover lovers. I love snow myself, I have been oogling Bo's amazing updates but when it comes to sensible weather active is always better than boring.

in your wrong opinion.   that's fine and I accept that..  it hasn't been a boring winter weather wise so again lord for  bid some would prefer to keep snow and bypass a another boring rain maker.

Just beating some thick skulls now.

Considering we are talking 5+ days away i would not be getting too comfortable with any solution the models show. Amazing how so few have yet to learn that lesson. :axe:

True.  I'm a little annoyed that the 18z is (probably) garbage because now I have to wait for the 00z to see what the real deal is.

Yeah I don't get this talk of only snow lovers forum. This forum is easily just as active in the spring, summer and fall.

yeah not even remotely close forum wide.. snow rules the roost always has and always will.  that's a fact... if you don't believe so, I'm sure randy could confirm traffic in winter crushes the other seasons, probably all combined

Drought, heat and flooding rains. Just like there is ice storms and wind in the snow season.

I'd lump flooding rains in there with severe as most summer floods are either convective events or associated with a tropical system making landfall.  The only thing less exciting than a drought is a 34 degree light frizzle.  I'll take the latter though as it doesn't hit my pocket book.

There's like 4 posters that enjoy heat and drought. That's not exciting weather for the majority.

I'm not a fan of it personally. Honestly I don't understand the point of arguing this anymore as people like what they like and aren't going to bend either way. The only thing I hate is boring weather so like I said I have no real stake in this as there is going to something here either way.
