Jonathan Posted January 25, 2013 Share Posted January 25, 2013 There is a VERY heavy yellow band on radar in the SWVA mountains...I am praying it makes it over. Right now I have light sleet. I'm hoping that heavier precip can come down as snow, but at this point, it looks like it could end up a sleet storm. Please make it over! I am still pleased, regardless of what happens from here on out. I have a nice coating of powder with maybe more (or sleet) on top. Temp is nice and cold at 25.3 with a DP of 15. I expect the temp to drop a degree or two when the precip finally gets here. First batch of heavier returns moving overhead and not seeing anything at the surface. Going to take awhile to moisten things up with a surface rh of less than 50% currently. Heavy sleet outside with an occasional snow flake finding its way down. It's pinging all over everything right now. Looks to sustain this for a while per radar reflectivity. The streets had slowly cleared due to road crews and sun angle...the sleet fell and streets are almost impassable now. Back edge of precip rolling through soon.
