Ian
So far the only places in VA reporting snow have elevation. I hope this changes. I have been thinking maybe the forecasters have become rusty and forget that these systems don't really give us the precip the models spit out east of the mountains due to the downslope and dry airmass... It'll make it. There is lots of forcing and no major moisture to lose really. Clipper snow cares not for dry air.

Swiscaster
I recall several clippers that jumped over the Valley and ended up enhancing after/because of the Blue Ridge. It'll turn out fine. But on this trajectory? Seems like the ones that pan out are ones where the clipper has already "made the turn" and snow is coming towards DC on a ENE trajectory, whereas this one is more of a ESE or E trajectory. I will say that the few recent reports of very light snow east of the mtns are at least encouraging!

87storms
there's supposed to be a weak area of low pressure developing in southern va tonight, so maybe that helps get us in the game up here. looks like the bands in central va are moving sw to ne, so it's not just a sagging area of precip.
