turtlehurricane
Nice crust of ice on everything. Precip rate increasing in this stratus/drizzle bank, .02" last hour. Thankfully the temperature has crawled above freezing so the ice situation won't get any worse, ice melting off trees quickly.
Stebo
That was a fun drive into work, passed 8 spin outs, the freeways are slick as ****, and right now we have -FZRA.

Stevo6899
Oh and other drivers suck, I'd made it to work 20 minutes earlier if other fools weren't driving Drove home a few hours ago from M59 at van dyke to romeo plank (about 6 miles) and there were at least 8 cars in the median or on the shoulder. Guess some people gotta learn the hard way.

OntarioWX
Wow, quite excited to see what this storm has in store for myself and the rest of Southern Ontario. Nights like this make me wish I was back home in Chatham to experience that blob of 50dBZ mixed-bag precip. Don't get rates like that too often in January that aren't entirely rain. weathergy
I would say I have a nice glaze of 1/10" FZRA. Line drops from the poll are completely coated in ice. Moderate FZRA continues.

Stebo
They should cancel school tomorrow...Its an absolute mess outside. Worst kind of weather going on right now. All of Livingston County cancelled their schools. Honestly if it's this bad and I had kids, it would be a self imposed snow day if they didn't get one. snowstormcanuck
Temperature seems to be steadily rising here. I hope it doesn't get too close to the freezing point before the snow arrives! lol. Your worrying borders on pathological.

snowstormcanuck
Moderate SN. Looks like about an inch of new snow on the ground.
snowstormcanuck
Interesting that the back edge of the precipitation shield is already past the eastern shores of Lk Huron. By the time thermal profiles support ZR I'm wondering if there won't be much precipitating.
snowstormcanuck
Looks like a period of +SN about to enter the city from the west. Maybe I can squeeze more than 2" out of this.

Stebo
Nearly every public school closed in the Detroit area. Good thing I don't go to school in my school district (East Detroit), it looks like it is the only one open in the entire metro. Edit: Never mind looks like they are closed as well, nearly 500 school/districts closed. Impressive to say the least.

weathergy
Good thing I don't go to school in my school district (East Detroit), it looks like it is the only one open in the entire metro. Detroit public is still open too.
Stebo
Detroit public is still open too. Looks like they closed them too now, 551 schools/districts. Btw we probably have about .20" icing here at the airport combined with the snow we also received, this probably should have been a WSW.
