Underperformance, eh? More like around what I thought earlier this morning when people said:

This analysis is poor.

Do you remember what radar looked like the other night? Most managed an inch from that. Some that were lucky enough to be under heavier returns, received more. 1-3 today is certainly possible. At the very least, I think most equal the inch they received Wednesday night/Thursday pre dawn.

The difference is that Wednesday nights storm didn't have to deal with as dry of an airmass as we have right now. This combined with the poor reflection on the radar right now and the downsloping effect of the mountains leads me to believe that the models are seeing virga and that the immediate DC metro area will see minimum effects from this system, and that a dusting is more likely than 1" or more. Maybe I'm a pessimist and my analysis is wrong, but I'm going out on a limb and saying that this isn't going to be what some here think it's going to be.

I mean...I got an inch. I wasn't expecting anything more...

It was generally in the area of expected at least in a vacuum. I think forecasts were higher in a lot of spots for this one than the last tho and the last was better for most spots at least around here. The dry air was less of an impact than lack of moisture/dry slot and quick movement.

Yeah agree on all points. I think I may also be skewed because I was not awake for the clipper. This one was much more visible - I think I might have gotten a hair more with this system.

It's always nice to see snow but the time expended on these two systems was not necessarily worth the outcome. This one was frustrating because for some reason most of us bought into the model agreement earlier in the week at least to a degree.

Measured just under 1" imby, not sure to round up or down.  Don't like rounding up. Very light snow throughout, though a little heavier around 3:30.  Began about 2:30 ended about 7 PM.  Mitch reported the same thing that happened here: the sun came out here about 4:30 but the snow continued to fall despite broken skies.  Kept that up another 2.5 hours but we only picked up another 1/4" or so.  About what I expected, and at least everything is covered in white.  Was just enough snow that I could take my little one tobaganning.  Given the temp, it was a great day.

That's pretty cool.

I may be the only member who posts here that lives in a town that doesn't plow or treat the roads at all for small snowfalls.  There was still a thin frozen cover on the roads this morning from Wednesday morning's event, before the couple of inches that fell today. Snow seems deeper on the roads than it does in the yard.  Sun angle was no factor today.

Most of the subs around here outside the city limits contract for snow removal. Our association doesn't spend money on small stuff like todays dusting even though it leaves the streets snow packed and slick.

This event had snow, ice pellets and a little freezing mist at the end even though it was under 23 here. The hard surafces were pretty cold to start making it very slippery. I couldn't get the wife's car up the driveway which has a slight slope until I put some salt down. I've never had that issue with a front wheel drive car...so much for traction control.

Looks like a bit more than an inch in Columbia.  Maybe 1.2" by eyeball?  Matches nearby storm reports.

We had snow on snow with temps in the teens and low 20s,  isn't this the promised land?

Yes re: the promised land.  1.4" total in Clarksburg.  Still flurrying at 9:50pm, winds have gone dead calm and the temp is 16.7F.  Ive had three batches of light snow move through in the last two hours.  Basically the frozen version of patchy drizzle.  Flakes are columns and it lasts long enough to give a dusting each time then it's right back to flurries.  Here's a vid of one of the light snow patches:

I melted 0.15" liquid in the 4" gauge from a 1.8" snowfall.  It looked like an awful lot of snow made it into the bucket for some reason.

Probably try to do a core sample in the a.m. since this seemed like better than a 12:1 ratio type snow.

Take a look at the Philly thread.  Apparently there were 30:1 and 40:1 ratios.  Tombo confirmed.

We pay a $ 50 annual fee to the HOA that is to cover our elderly neighbor's (retired landscaper) plowing of our street, which is a private road.  He doesn't seem to come out for anything under 4"  and rarely before the snow has ended, except in the big storms.  What strikes me about here is that the county roads usually don't get touched either unless the snow is heavy.
