I will give you credit you are one of the few here no matter what it shows, you always tell us the NAM sucks.

the nam doesn't suck per se it's just not supposed to be used very heavily for a synoptic winter storm so far out.

Not our rules, AccuWeather's (or any other pay site) Rules. Legal Issues could arise if they are from a pay site.

I hear you, and don't want to break rules however like Ian just mentioned, I thought the text outputs were ok, just not maps.

Ian, I agree, and actually felt like posting a ton of them just cluttered the board.  I'll stop posting them unless a mod says it's cool.  If that ends up being the case, I'll be more sparing.

Not sure the text stuff is a big problem if it's used sparingly or paraphrased. No need to paste every location every run either way.

I know that this thread is not the place, so mods please delete when it gets cleaned up but.

Ian, If it specifically says "Copyright AccuWeather 2013, All rights Reserved. Distribution Prohibited" Like it did in the Euro output he posted here:

http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php/topic/38918-late-january-2013-mid-long-range-disco-thread/?p=2025563 <-- PS. Already flagged post for mods.

Edit/PS: I'm not trying to be criticizing or harsh, I just don't want legal trouble.

Don't want to argue but I had copied the whole page there.  Every single accuweather.com page has that disclaimer.  So is everything on their site not allowed to be posted?  Just type in accuweather.com and look at the bottom of the page.

right.. i'd abstain from copy/pasting directly. it's best to side with caution tho so yeah.. don't post them. but paraphrasing, putting into own words, anything works... plus when it's not the euro most of the data is available for free as well.

All I see if the general copyright at the bottom of each page on a non-subscription site. I don't see the "Distribution Prohibited" - Anything from a paysite shouldn't be posted...that's why you're paying for it!

I got my answer, I won't be posting them.

Forum Tip: You can post anything from the NWS or sites that you don't have to login/subscription for. Places like Twisterdata, PSU E-Wall, All NWS/NOAA/Government sites, etc. Most of these places have all the data free anyway because the GFS/NAM etc. are products of the US Government which by default is free for the public. The only catch is when it comes to the Euro or the CMC, however, on the forums we usually paraphrase or give out details of the run in our own words. You can still say for example "Well, at hr 156 850 temps on the euro for IAD are -.6°C" That's totally fine and, in fact encouraged. :)

99 hrs on 18z gfs imby

probably still snow, with some grains; almost all the precip has fallen by then

one other consideration re the NAM, recall it was the farthest North with the precip in the last storm at the end of its range and was wrong

if it's making a similar error with this event, it's right there with the GFS and almost the Euro
