eyewall
On January 17th we had snow across the northern tier of NC into the Piedmont due to dynamical cooling with an upper level low. For some accums busted but for others they lucked out. It had been over decade since I saw thundersnow. I was lucky enough to capture some east of Greensboro on the evening of this event. I don't have stills but video is here: After the thundersnow the rates were up to 2" per hour with the deformation band before it weakened farther east.
