The last few runs of the NAM picked up on this band and I mentioned it yesterday. However, it showed the band moving through PHL then into NYC (which the northern extent of it never made it)....but for the most part it showed it on the sim radar....a strong narrow actually heavy band of snow

I drove through that band about 2 hrs ago, it was legit 1/4 mile from exit 117 through the 120s on the GSP which was covered over...pretty treacherous actually as traffic was moving at 30 mph...by the time i reached the parkway bridge it stopped and there was nothing to be seen.

My paps put a ruler on the grass and said about an inch and a half..3/4 inch on the patio which wasn't accumulating initially...I'd guess somewhere in the middle around 1.2" sounds about right

Came out on average with 2.5" after averaging a few spots in my yard. Naturally I would show off the pic of the highest total just to shove it in your faces. :P

Where u at?

My wife came home from the Lakewood area and she said there was almost 2" there by the parkway when she left and it was bad even on the gsp which was untreated.

And with that clear skies. Was this basically the winter equivalent of a line of thunderstorms during the summer lol

Not  a bad way to look at it.. You may have followed some posts in the past few days from HM talking about moist potential vorticity/instability being a component with this system...Good catch by him, and those situations can always lead to some surprises on the + side
