The vis is at 10 miles, which tells ya that the snow is really light.

Hence why I called it "flurries".  Flurries used to be an actual report, encoded " S - - " ( read as "ess minus minus").  Since METAR came along that doesn't happen anymore, but by convention, any snow with visibility above 4 miles is considered "flurries".

Flurrying has begun in Port Jefferson, LI. I pray our snowbelt region lives up to its rep.

 

Coming down a little heavier now...but still S - -  / flurries.

Was awaiting your presence and observations because I'm a PJ imposter of sorts. I'm a Miller Place resident, heart of the snowbelt. But the snow has picked up, here in your awesome Village. S-SW winds and 31F.
