12z NAM giving 0.1" of precip from Nassau/Suffolk border out east. Looking at 12z NAM reflectivity, we get about 4 hours of light snow, then a 1 hour break, then a quick burst at the end.

The way the radar looks and with how dry the high res models are looking it wouldn't surprise me if we all wound up with nothing.

I think the models are little more moist , and if you see the radar start to fill in later I think UPTON will issue WWA for 1- 2 inches accross Long Island for this evening  . Mt Holly goin with 1- 2 accross  I- 78 - thats put the Island in those corsshairs .

Advisory criteria for LI is 3"  ... and they usually won't do that unless 3" is expected to be reasonably widespread.

a long time ago the weather service issued hazardous driving conditions for events like this...

History tends to repeat itself so we may do that again some day.  Out here we've been experimenting with issuing winter weather advisories for events like this.
