Yeah, it's called a thermostat. My wife and I (and my son) are not fans of heat so we just set the thermostat at 50° in the upstairs where our bedrooms are and it makes for great sleeping temps around 52-55°. The rest of the house is set at 58° Down to 1° this morning. I was hoping for zero, but I'll take it. Maybe I'll tick down a degree for my 0700 ob? My gf would kill me. It's already hard enough to convince her of 68F. You save a little energy, but you use up quite a bit when you get the temp back up during the daytime. Every object in the house gets down to the 50s so it takes while to get the heat transferred through them.

We turned up the heat for only the 2nd or 3rd time yesterday, the stoves are doing the trick. At least until I run out of wood. We do have an electric blanket. Crank that up and pre-heat your bed for an hour and you're golden. 1.4/-
MaineJayhawk
Yeah, 58° interior temp is a bit low for me. I keep it in the low 60s. Shaking my head in bemusement at the peeps with their windows open and a fan running. Anyway, -6F in my 'hood. Pretty chilly but not unusual. moneypitmike
-5F with a coating of new snow. Congrats--you get the golden thermometer trophy I think for the -5. We picked up a dusting last night as well--noticed it coming down around 10:30 or so. Wasn't sure how wide-spread it was.

It worked for a while but now it goes off whenever the humidity creeps up so I need to replace it. I need to bite the bullet and get something high-end that will last.
