January 24-25th Potential Winter Weather Event

I know this isn't the "DT/JB" thread, but this has to do with this potential storm.

Last night in his video, DT said he saw similarities to the January 22, 2005 storm when a clipper combined with a southern low. That storm gave Toronto 4" of snow, with the temperature hovering around 0F. Do any of the mets here believe a similar set-up is possible?

Really doubt this will compare to that "super clipper" as far as totals go

That was a strong storm for this area. 13.0" here. Temperatures around 20° for most of the storm. Highly doubt it would end up like that system.

He's going out on a limb so gotta give him that. I'm not totally convinced about great ratios if we get some warmer mid level air sneaking in. I have an early range in mind but don't want to post it and look like a dummy. :P

Obvious he's banking on favorable ratios. Too early for that IMO.

And come on, let's hear your first call...don't be scared. :D

I'd go with something like T to 5", lol.

Alright, my early guess is less than what we got on Dec 26 but good enough to be our 2nd biggest storm so far...perhaps something like 2-4"

hpc straight trolling

What was your call for Dec 26?

Sorta funny, but I was reading through the Feb 2007 Blizzard thread at Eastern awhile ago and you posted a prediction map. It's still there.

post it! let's have a laugh.

That storm dropped 12.2" at DTW. It had a massive area of 6"+ from the upper midwest to the east coast.

That is an odd map. Kinda surprised to see no 8" prob areas near Lake MI in Michigan. 8" for LAF?...

The way the 10% line hugs around NE IL and the STL metro is odd.

Dude, cyclone drew that map. ;)

Alek, I can't find it. May have been another storm thread over there. If I ever see it again, I'll definitely pass it along.

Lol. :lmao: You got me.

Thought that was a serious map. No wonder I couldn't find it on the HPC site!

He got Alek and I as well clearly.  The ultra ORD screwage would be to have a thin area of probs stretch across NC Illinois and then NE into SE Wisconsin, leaving them in a true bubble.  Thankfully that kind of scenario would never happen for Chitown.
