I don't understand Steve D and his 1-3 inches for NyC and northeast NJ.

Just cloudy here..maybe a few flakes here tonight.'

He would score a coup if his forecast verified. The radar looks deceptively interesting for NYC, but its mostly virga and light accumulating snow is more likely to fall east of the city in Suffolk County. Anyway, here's hoping!

radar looks unimpressive he should have said 1 - 3 flakes going to take a miracle to get 1 - 3 inches - shore areas could get 1 -3

Dew point 24 degrees at Central Park, NY.  Air too dry in the City.

I think Steve D was going with the Euro. Euro is the best model out there but ever since Sandy, it hasn't been stellar.

most of the winters in the 80s were better than this.... of course this winter still has time, fwiw.

but to stay on topic......

blinding clouds.

frigid 39 F.

They were colder, thats for sure but the snow hole with storms regularly found the DCA-BOS corridor which its doing pretty well this winter.

There must have been a ton of LI snow events that were not NYC storms in the 80s...those 2 storms in 1/88 seem to equal NYC's entire total for the 87-88 winter.

The cooperative was 10 miles east of the Queens border.

After Williams post, the 1980's did not seem that bad. Why all the crying?

The 80s just lacked big storms overall, 83 and 87 were the biggest ones though eastern LI did have some bigger ones like 2/25/90 and the 12/88 event.  No question though looking at the Westbury/BNL Data they did alot better than Central Park in the 80s or the guy measuring at Central Park back then was even worse than the one today and I think it was actually NWS employees measuring back then so unlikely.
