NavarreDon
Looking at the GSP radar you can see bands spiraling from E to W coming towards AVL. Not going to go crazy but would like to see a nice white ground here.
superjames1992
Summerfield Ah, got you. I have a cousin in Oak Ridge. I live ~5 miles east of the airport (KGSO). Sounds like the changeover should be any time now, though the rain continues to fall heavily.
SBUWX23
Ugh, I dont even know why I humored myself streaming the Raleigh news. The TV met, not naming, said he didnt think the Raleigh area would see much snow at all now. Not sure what he was seeing... Hopefully everyone here is not listening to that. calculus1
They have had to open one floodgate at Oxford Dam (forms Lake Hickory) this evening. Is that one off Hwy 16? Drains into Lake Lookout? I guess people downstream should expect rising water.

strongwxnc
Changing over in hickory now. Nice Brandon. Hoping the current radar continues to pump in the returns and cools things down for snow level!
Busick
All sleet now and very heavy (deck is covered with ice pellets) wind is blowing at 10-20mph 15 miles northeast of greensboro
Poimen
I want to comment on the wind, too. I've lived in this house for 2 years, after spending my entire life on the Outer Banks. In the 2 years I've lived here I have never heard the wind hit my big living room window like it is right now. Reminds me of home. Anyway...temp is falling quick. Down to 41 with steady rain and wind.

Duke Power calls all the folks down stream to warn them when they are planning to open the floodgates.

HKY_WX
Nice Brandon. Hoping the current radar continues to pump in the returns and cools things down for snow level! It's in that intermediate phase. It mixs for a few mins then it's all rain then it mixes. Looking at the short range models, i think most everyone NW of charlotte will changeover by 8pm and then a solid 4 hours of heavy snow.

RaleighWx
So, if it is on schedule, then why all the worry about an hour ago? People always panic about this time. Let's just see if things progress. Changeover time for Triad was always though to be 6-8pm. For the Triangle 9-10pm. Let's see if the trends hold.
