marsh
The Blizzard of 1983. An inch or two of snow was predicted in southwest CT. I was having lunch at Greenwich Point. Looking across Long island Sound there was no sign of any snow falling even on Long Island. Suddenly and within 10 minutes Long Island became invisible behind a white curtain of snow which then marched across Long Island Sound. The announcer on news radio 88 described it as "a wall of white has just moved into midtown Manhattan". The snow commenced in Greenwich around 1:00 PM and by 2:00 AM it was all over but the shoveling of some 28 inches of snow.
uncle W
thanks everyone...Accuwx was predicting 4-10" until late in the day...Craig Allen and and the CBS weather crew had 4" or more...I remember around 11am seeing p'cldy skies to the north...I had my doubts...The first three storms of the season were over predicted and this one was under predicted...
