snowfan
Thats surprising... could the EURO be overcompensating? It's impossible for the EURO to be wrong.

nflwxman
Someone commented that the 850 low stays closed off a bit longer and seems to be drifting a bit to the north. Revive the north trend maybe?

permafour
Not seeing that...still 43 in CHO I was just looking at the VDOT cameras. There's definitely snow mixing in on I-81 in Raphine and Fairfield. Hard to tell, but it kinda looks like snow is trying to mix in on US-29 in North Garden. snowfan
If the euro were to be correct in brining .25-.35 post 4pm, I think we might be able to eek out the 1-2 inches.

clskinsfan
wow at the euro! almost 0.25" for DCA between 7pm and 1am tonight...with precip reaching past HGR and MRB Yeah. Just between the Euro and the current radar I am pretty confident even we will see snow now. Not gonna amount to much. But it will be nice to see it fall. Edit: Looks to start falling just in time for rush hour. I am glad I got to 41 today.
Bob Chill
There's some good lift forming on the outside edge from a line @VA / KY border through HGR. Maybe the euro is catching that and moving it through. Just a guess but looks close enough anyways.
NOVAForecaster
RAP is not showing anything on the northward trend, I'm ignoring the global/regional models now except for that and some nowcasting.
mitchnick
Yeah, Afton Mountain too. I think we are about an hour away from seeing some snowflakes here in CHO. for DCA/BWI area, I look at these mountain cams on Skyline Drive because they are WSW of the area which will be more important imho than those to the SW Pinnacles just ESE of Luray http://www.nps.gov/webcams-shen/pinnacles.jpg Big Meadows at mile marker 51 http://www.nps.gov/webcams-shen/bvc.jpg
clskinsfan
Traffic cam link again for those who want it: http://www.511virginia.org/ Chreck out the Clifton Forge cam. Bob Chill
Could that end up as a deform band? Too far removed from the low? Doubt the main deform band. I'm not good as mesoscale at all so I'm not guessing at anything. Just making an obs and worth watching for lack of anything else to watch. WxMan1
lol, DT used to say almost the same thing during his short stint here. Since the late 80s, we've been in a boom or bust cycle with bad 6 or 7 bad years in a row and then a 40 plus inch year. 16-30 inch years like we had from 58-69 have pretty much vanished. You arrived here at a bad junction. Ah yes, the period from the 50's through the 70s. Would be nice to see a predominant, seasonal -NAO for 30 years like we saw in those 3 decades. I was hoping the tables would turn after 2010...

I feel pretty good about seeing some flakes actually. That band your talking about is going to give us a shower before it moves east. I guess I am in full weenie mode though. WEATHER53
There is a lot of precip to the sw and the ull is still wrapping. I would wait until 75%+ of the precip has passed us before piling on the game over as hard as the game on got piled on. Definite northerly component now And the ull is really moving slow way down south. Got a lot to go through yet.
