Was just replying to you're "we don't pay attention" comment. Certainly spent a lot of time doing so and it's what I focused on yesterday. To be honest once we thought lower qpf would be the rule yesterday afternoon we shrunk the 3-6 zone to cover less area.

LOL I have said a million times you guys are the best in CT.

Spent some time at Wachusett with my daughter (and son) for her first ski lesson. Off and on drizzle became steadier drizzle after her lesson finished and we headed to the car. Back home we had some very light drizzle turn into parachutes for a few minutes.

Has everyone congratulated Blizz for sticking with this?

Lost about 1.5" of my 4.5" to compaction, melting, saturation, or whatever met term is used ins this situation.

Raked the roofs so I don't have to deal with the dreaded dam situation up there.

or you got a ruler with the first 1 inch back on, lol , congrats on the Jackpot this morning it was crushing there for 90 mins

lol.

Yeah that was nice.

Pretty much in tune with Ryan's morning forecast yesterday.

Almost 2 feet for us so far and it's only mid-January.  Can't complain about that, but I will complain about any rain that we've had since Christmas because that's what I do.

This is the battle we as meteorologists wage. It wasn't billed as a big storm because it isn't a big storm. It's a sandard advisory type snow event, nothing really all that special about it. If we were to play up the significance of the storm we run into problems when a big nor'easter really tracks up the coast. That's how you end up with tornado emergencies and the like, "no this time we really mean it."

We all lead busy lives now. Rush rush rush. There's not enough time in the morning to allow yourself an extra 20-30 mins to get to where you need to go. People get perturbed when they can't drive 80mph.

NWS can't fix stupid. If people want to drive 80mph on snow covered roads....no warning or advisory will fix it.

Snowing at 1-2 inches per hour during rush hour during an advisory event might as well be a 12" snowstorm...that's what we had this morning. Bad timing creates havoc since people often just see that they are only supposed to get 4" of snow and don't look at when it might fall or how intense.

impact based warnings in the future? advisory is to warning like Ball Park is to Stadium, seems so mellow. I remember very well the travelers advisory, I knew I was fuked for heavy snow.

Good discussion.

12/13/07 was similar in that a rush hour was affected, albeit with higher totals and heavier impact.  Some days no matter how well you communicate with transportations chiefs and EMs there just can't be enough crews out there to keep things orderly.  On days like that state gov might consider offering incentives to employers to encourage telecommuting.  Also, I wonder if in the winter months the FOs would consider a traffic discussion, similar to the aviation discussion.

Driving on powder, deep powder is so easy, its the urban ice cased slush fest tickle of powder on top that gets slippery. Is there any sound better than walking or driving on powder on a cold winter night?

I hear that, ha-ha.

But yeah, I know exactly what you mean. One of the nice things around here when the roads are snow-covered is that all the f*cking potholes are filled in (VT's state roads are in pretty sorry shape away from the population centers). Oh-so-much smoother of a ride.

High of 31.8 today.. Solid layer of ice on top of the snow just locking it in. Pines sagging like Rays boobs.  More snow tomorrow night. More next Tuesday with the coastal. Deep deep winter for weeks and weeks

Still have about 2" OTG after a day of Ray 33 and drizzle.

Winter, meh.

Looks like you guys have a little inverted trough action going right now. There's a bit of moisture convergence and sfc frontogenesis in the vicinity of that feature on radar.

Thats what i was thinking, I had just told the wife we have a inverted trough going on, Its back building here, It went from about 13 dbz's up to 24 dbz's
