dryslot
Probably should keep the GFS this time because it shows snow
SlantStickers Anonymous
On air mets must hate systems that initially show up as scrapers then 36 hours before start looking like bombs.
TalcottWx
Better ridge out west, better high over atlantic, higher heights in the northeast. Much better interaction between southern and northern energy. Jusy great improvement overall.
wxsniss
Not subtle at all: GFS 12z vs. 0z significantly better at h5... stronger, deeper with northern stream, visible as early as 21hrs... By 48h the beginnings of a phase but still too late for a monster bomb... The timing and evolution of these pulses coming down from AK is complex... maybe someone can compare verification of 12z vs. 0z at the earliest hours? MarkO
I know last winters first storm in not an analog, but the excitement on this board is similar. What's the RPM showing?
radarman
Wouldn't be at all surprised to see snsh in GC tomorrow and tomorrow evening with the push of cold air and weak mid-level height falls. Not a lot of moisture to be had though.

wxsniss
GEFS will be interesting... Unlike 12/29/12 (where we had some big hits depicted days before on a couple ensemble members), we have yet to see a member show anything much beyond southeast MA, but I suspect that will change at 12z. Clinch Leatherwood
man this is oh so close to a veritable bomb for EMA Gfs to me got closer to a nice hit. We need another shift in the northern energy sw, gives the whole thing better alignment and faster coming together. 3-6 hour speed change up north (slower and west) and we get hammered here

We can start with the verification closer to 18z...by then we will have euro anyway. Euro was an epic fail in how it handled the southern energy on this one. Clinch Leatherwood
Ginxy the gfs is exactly what we wanted to see. Probably one more run of change at that rate to a major hit. I bet some gefs members are intense. Rgem is now a light hit too. Everything still coming north.

wxsniss
Bigtime respect to those few here and on air who actually led the models on this one: sniffed this potential out, even when no models showed anything. Far from a lock, but there's a legitimate potential for a bigger EMA hit when most here completely dismissed this. Echoes of 12/29/12.
