Mitchel Volk
When he worked at WCBS Newsradio Bob Harris clam to have a Phd. in meteorology, in fact the radio newspeople called he Dr Bob Harris. I did not like they tried to pinpoint storm dates so far in the future, it gave people a false sense of weather forecasting especially that he claimed to be an expert which he was not. He was in my opinion a pseudo-scientist and was bad for the meteorologist community. Unlike Bob Harris Tex never claimed to be a meteorologist and he was an excellent on air "weatherman". Bon Harris was a weenie, and in my opinion was good as an alternative weather forecaster.Although Tex was entertaining and fun, Harris was able to give detailed weather info to enlighten non weather people on how and why. As for his forecasting , he hit and missed with the same frequency as the weather bureau. Why would he have been bad for anyone?

Bob Harris started at WOR radio in the 60's on the Rambling with Gambling morning show..First time i remember a Bob Harris forecast was before the Lindsay blizzard..I remember him saying if it's all snow it could be one of the biggies of all time the day before..Before the blizzard of 78 he was calling for huge numbers before anybody else did..A solid forecaster..one of my favorites, with Gordon Barnes and Alan Kasper back when I was a kid

He could claim that as a win, although it was a rather localized event.

He lied about his credentials, but ironically he was still one of the better mets on. Certainly better than a lot of the crop that followed him. I would agree that pinpointing the storm dates the way he did (especially back then) was a useless exercise and claiming 70% accuracy for the prior winter was probably a lot of crap. But I still liked the guy.

NorthShoreWx
Great videos Unc!! In the videos you sound more like one of us than like Tex. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. My oldest son was born in the middle of the January 1994 series that you posted. Good times, good memories and some interesting drives to the hospital.
