2/5-6/10 was a slopfest till the ULL.. Lots of trees came down in the city.. I got drenched walking around in it through the early part. I believe there was an issue with the DCA liquid.. I'd have to try to dig it up but it is low.

This is the worst of the top 20 for DC and it had to have been like a rain to snow event. The accum is spread over both days with lows of 32 for both so would have been a really gross event either way.

3/27-28/1891 - 12" off of 2.44 4.9:1

Thanks for posting these, Zwyts.  I don't remember any sleet in '83.  I was ~350' elev about 10 miles west of BWI.

Long duration, loud thunder, vivid lightning, 3-4"/hr rates and wind, so I may have missed the pellets. ;)

I was living in Glen Burnie at the time and I know we didn't have any sleet, just incredible S+++ and T-Snow most of the afternoon from around Noon - 4PM

wild, wild day

But look at when it was. A foot of snow around here in almost April??? Weather Channel would have named it Zenith. :)

true.. the other 'worst' top 20 was 11/11/87 but doubt we'd be complaining with 8:1 if it happened again

are you sure on that precip total for pdii?

i see 1.58 for 15-18 with 0.02 on the 14, but lwx doesnt 'count' that as a day of the storm: http://www.erh.noaa....nts/snohist.htm

edit: hmm, precip for the mo doesnt add up to lwx total.. tho everything else does.

im pretty sure...1.58" def isnt right...we wasted probably 0.5" of QPF sunday evening on torrential sleet

PDII was interesting, huge totals for some that didn't get as much sleet. Phin 37" was the big winner, 33" here and over 2.5" of liqev. What a storm, longer duration and had it all, some TSSN, my first experience with it where I was more aware, was alive during 96 but very young, and don't remember if 1/25/2000 had any TS, Matt? Ian?
