this torch peaks over the next 24 hours. tonight will be one of those brutal S wind nights. 

 

Yup. Though 40/40 last night didn't help.... tonight's 48/48 with a wind picking up will be torchtastic.  Can't wait for Joe to post the departures this morning.

no one's going to go that aggressive on a day 6 forecast...NWS is always very conservative. Same thing in the summer-you'll never see 95 or 100 more than 3 days out...

So then you forecast 20's..not mid-upper 30's

because thats their best 'guess' at this point? their point of view is that the influx of cold is more back end loaded and will really get going just beyond saturday.

Yeah I could see it trending colder but at least right now the models are definitely not anywhere near teens at BDL. Looks like me like a near climo kind of day.

The op Euro is definitely the coldest... the Euro Ens mean is like -8c at 850 by 00z Saturday. If anything the trend has been more of a "glancing" blow of the cold in SNE so I could definitely see the milder solutions panning out.

True Phil but its almost the 20th by the time the cold arrives.  **** this winter, light snow now gone even down here mid week, then it gets cold with no promise of snow. I respect those that love bitter arctic cold even if the landscape is brown, but to me just get me to spring I have no use for it unless I am lacing up my skates and who knows if it sticks around to even freeze the ponds which have now melted.....................again.
