Hoosier
Looks like I'll get to mid February, and beyond, with a whopping 2.5" of total snow IMBY since the start of January. And the 0z GFS has another rainstorm on the 18-19th. Sweet. This winter is f*cking awesome. Chances of you going into all-out meltdown mode before winter ends? Chicago WX
Chances of you going into all-out meltdown mode before winter ends? I don't do meltdowns. But at this point, I'm gonna b*tch a little...and with some good reason I believe.
Harry
It's a tough hobby when you don't get what you desire. At least for me I have recent, yet fading, memories of a big snowstorm (Feb 2007). In the end, I don't really need much, other than just sharing in a little of the love. I understand my snow climo, and it sucks donkey. Just give me something close to normal for the season. But that's not looking at all attainable at this point. I hear you on that. We are both in the same boat with that too. lol

Chicago WX
Would a GHD and March 2008 repeat do the trick? Don't be trollin' now. Mods are supposed to be above that. For the record...I'd do GHD again, but March 2008 would suck.

I'd have to ban myself if that happened. Couldn't take an epic sleet fest followed by an epic whiff to the south.

Stebo
06z GFS would make some meltdown, especially with the rich out East getting much much much richer.

Soooooooo close to being something very special out this way as well. Forget salt on the wounds it is straight acid on the wounds if that happened. Thankfully still more then enough time for that to change!

There's still a little time for the system next weekend to shift a bit west in our favor, but with the pattern and our luck? Doubtful.
Stebo
especially with a favorable trough axis and then it took 500 years to get going. That said, it was the 06z GFS and I suspect the 12z will be back to some Euroesque progressive bore by this time 5 hours from now. I think the favorable trough axis is what will end up dragging this back West some. Soooooooo close to being something very special out this way as well. Forget salt on the wounds it is straight acid on the wounds if that happened. Thankfully still more then enough time for that to change! Yes, the pieces are all there, the GFS just tracks this thing too flat through the South especially compared with how the 500mb pattern looks. Of course it would eventually jump to the coast, like the Xmas storm did.

We have had above normal snow for the last 3 weeks, with our luck it will come back West... lol. Remember we have the Josh jackpot zone locally, all storms are drawn to it like a magnet. At least 8" please.

weathergy
3-4" is fine, I'm not greedy. It's all fair game after seeing 3 feet of snow drop on the EC weenies, and seeing some of them complain in not getting >2' when they've gotten well over a foot. I know from first hand experience that words are of little comfort when winter refuses to deliver the goods. But things do turn around. I've had the worst luck of anyone on this board over the last 5 years, and it happened for me. So for sure it can happen for you. I got a feeling one of those GFS fantasy land ATL-FWA tracking storms is in the cards. Help LAF and ORD out at the same time.

Stebo
Maybe the 06z GFS is right, it does pretty much blank Chicago through the entire run, while everywhere else gets precipitation.

IWXwx
From the discussion I am assuming that the GFS is still showing the trough spawning another EC bomb this weekend. I mentioned it the other day and refuse to look again.
